Nice cuppa & catch up for 11 of us earlier at Cafe Boldon. Always plenty of chat, laughter and also ideas for trips, visits & future coffee mornings.
Thank you to the ladies that could make it this morning, it's always a popular venue and lovely to see some of our newer members come along too. We always say these smaller group meetings are a great way of getting to know your fellow members in a quieter setting away from the busyness of our monthly meetings.
All members are always welcome to attend ☺️

It was a beautiful day for 12 of our Blossoms on our Sunderland Sculpture Walk. We met at St Andrew's Church, Roker, then walked down to the beach & along the riverside. We saw some very interesting artwork as we headed towards Wearmouth Bridge. A wonderful
'Cormorant Taking Flight, 'Windows & Walls' designed by local children & the very impressive 'Red House'. There have been some fairly recent additions, including 'It Says Here' & 'Launch Day' which represent Sunderland's shipbuilding heritage. We must give a special mention to 'Molly' who represents the women who played a vital role in the shipyards during WW2.
Our walk turned around at Wearmouth Bridge, back towards the National Glass Centre where we stopped for our break. We returned along the beach & through Roker Cliff Park to the church. We walked almost 5 miles & approximately 11500 steps.
Thank you to our Walking Blossoms for joining the walk. You are great company ☺️

On Friday , nine of our Ladies who Lunch met at the ever popular Bellinis at Seaburn Dene.
Choices of chicken dishes, pizzas, pasta and risottos were very much enjoyed from the menu . Some ladies had room for a dessert, & some opted for just coffee.
Great food and company too, lots of laughs and chatter

Thank you Doreen for organising, we all hope you feel better soon x

At our May meeting, we welcomed Dave Dean who gave a presentation on "The Women & Men of Bletchley Park".
Bletchley Park, an English country house & estate, became the principal centre of Allied code-breaking during WW2. The team based there (75% of whom were women) worked tirelessly to decode & interpret secret communications sent by the Axis powers. Most importantly they regularly penetrated the German Enigma & Lorenz ciphers. Their work changed the course of the war & saved thousands of lives.
Dave's presentation covered some incredible events at Bletchley Park & gave us great insight into the work carried out there.
At our meeting we were very pleased to welcome two new members to Boldon Blossoms & three visitors. We hope our visitors may also become members soon.
Thanks everyone for your company & helping to make the evening a success ☺️

Yesterday evening our Books and Banter Club met in The Storybook Pub.

Our book this month was The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah a book set in World War Two. Some ladies had completed the book whilst others were mid-read. It was recognised as a good, thought provoking text. The characters were courageous amazing women and the ending was quite harrowing.

Next month's book has a different note. It is The House of the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. This is a fantasy novel set on the island of Marsyas involving an orphanage and magical children.

We also chose our book for July which is a Rob Rinder novel The Trial.

We laughed a lot about savaloys, markets, Sea Captains and life experiences! A relaxing fun evening had by all, everyone was on ‘good form’

*All of our members are more than welcome to join in with any of our interest (sub) groups

Til the next time- keep reading 😉📚
