When it’s 90 degrees outside, the very last thing on your mind is building a cozy fire. But if you want to avoid a massive headache when the first cold snap hits, right now is actually the absolute best time to get your chimney inspected and swept.
Every single year, we see the exact same thing: a massive, last-minute rush the second the temperature drops. Suddenly, everyone wants an appointment at the same time, schedules back up for weeks, and you’re left shivering waiting for an opening.
Getting ahead of the game during the summer months keeps your home safe and ensures your fireplace is ready to roar the moment you need it.

Need a cleaning? Need repairs? We are here to help.

Creosote is a highly flammable buildup that forms inside your chimney when wood burns. Many homeowners don’t realize it’s there until it becomes a serious hazard.
⚠️ Signs of creosote buildup:
• Strong, smoky or burnt odor coming from your fireplace
• Black, shiny, or tar-like coating inside the chimney
• Poor draft or smoke backing up into your home
• Crackling or popping sounds while burning
• Fires that seem harder to start or keep going
• Visible soot or debris falling into your fireplace
🔥 Why it’s dangerous:
Creosote is the #1 cause of chimney fires. It can ignite quickly and burn extremely hot, putting your home and family at risk. Even a small buildup can turn into a major problem if left untreated.

Smoke Tite 🔥
The photo shows a smoke chamber where the original mortar parging has deteriorated over time due to water intrusion and general wear. In a properly functioning smoke chamber, individual bricks and their color should not be visible. The entire chamber should be fully coated (parged) with refractory mortar to ensure safe operation and proper draft. Exposed brick inside the smoke chamber is a significant safety concern and is one of the leading causes of masonry fireplace fires. The black discoloration visible is normal soot buildup from previous fires. The new parging will also darken with use, which is expected and not a concern.
Reparging the smoke chamber provides an added layer of protection and helps restore safe and efficient performance.

The National Fire Protection Association’s standard for chimneys and fireplaces calls for homeowners to have their system inspected and swept each year in order to keep the system as safe as possible. Chimney inspections ensure your fireplace is safe and structurally sound. Schedule professional inspections once a year, regardless of how often you use your fireplace. Behind every safe fireplace is a technician who takes the dirty work seriously. Over time, soot and creosote build up inside the flue and that buildup is one of the leading causes of chimney fires. Regular cleanings help prevent fires, improve airflow, and ensure harmful gases like carbon monoxide safely exit your home.
