π FALL PEST INVADER #9: CENTIPEDES
Did you know? π
As temperatures cool down in Oklahoma, centipedes may start looking for moisture and shelter. That can bring them into garages, basements, bathrooms and other areas around your home.
π A few interesting centipede facts
β’ Centipedes are predators and actually help control other insects and spiders.
β’ They are most active at night and prefer dark, damp areas.
β’ They have one pair of legs per body segment.
β’ House centipedes can move surprisingly fast, which is one reason they tend to scare people when spotted indoors.
β’ Finding a few centipedes can mean there is a food source nearby, such as other insects or spiders.
π What can you do?
Reduce moisture around your home, repair leaks and make sure water drains away from the foundation.
Seal cracks around doors, windows and the foundation to reduce entry points.
Reducing the insects they feed on can also help reduce centipede activity.
A professional exterior pest treatment can help create a barrier around your property and reduce the pests centipedes are hunting.
