Let’s talk about the “infamous” paper towel test!

Why it can be difficult to pass:

Dirt buildup: Floors accumulate dirt and grime, especially in high-traffic areas or with pets and children. Wearing shoes also adds to this mix.

Cleaning methods: Traditional mopping can push dirt around rather than fully remove it.

Residue: Cleaning products can leave behind residue, especially if not rinsed properly.

Floor type: Older or textured floors may be more difficult to clean thoroughly.

While this can be an easy way to check how clean your floors are, this can also be an unfair reflection of your cleaning service. While we try our best to perform magic, there are always going to be factors that work against us ❤️🧼❤️

Attention Clients:

Starting next week I will begin sending out appointment reminders that look like this. I will include your appt day/time in the text and will send one on Friday if you are scheduled on a Monday or a Tuesday of the following week. My hope with this new method/format is that last minute cancellations and “I forgot” situations become as close to non-existent as possible. I am trying my best to NOT have to raise my prices (even though everything else is going up), so I hope that this will help keep things as steady as possible.

Also, I realize you don’t always know you are sick until the day of and that emergencies happen. I will be willing to work with you in those moments. This is more-so for those that make a habit of it, I lose money/can’t fill the spot with a 20 minute notice, and then 4 other people do the same thing that week 🤪🫣

On behalf of my business, “O” So Clean, I will be implementing a new policy starting the first week of April. As of April 1st 2023, payment for services will be due the DAY OF service. A fee of $10 will be added per day until payment is received. I try so hard to be understanding and allow for wiggle room, but I have had far too many people waiting to pay until the next day/days later/going out of town and forgetting/etc and I just can’t afford for that to continue. If you are on my schedule, you are in my budget. I plan my bills accordingly and it is partially my fault for not enforcing this more before. You don’t go out to eat and then pay the restaurant later nor do you do this at any other place. I cannot continue to provide a service and then hope to be paid for it later. It is really hard to make up for this income on a short notice and if I am giving my time/skill/efforts, they deserve to be paid for when I am providing them. I truly appreciate those that continue to support my dream and I look forward to many years to come ☀️

It’s hard to believe I have owned this little business for 8+ years now. I remember it just being an idea and here I am now, blessed beyond measure in many ways. Over the course of these past 8 years, I’ve encountered many changes: employees, cleaning methods, schedules, illnesses, etc. One thing I’ve never had to change though is pricing, until now. As with nearly everything in life these days, I have come to the point that increasing my rates is my only option unless I start letting clients go. Between fuel being close to $4.50/gallon (you can imagine how much I drive) and a massive increase in supplies as well, I am barely breaking even some days. I have tried my best to consume these increases for as long as I can, but it’s come to the point that my income just can’t take any more hits. With this said, starting June 1st I will be adding a $10 increase per house. I am waiting until the 1st in order for everyone to become aware/make their decisions if necessary and also so that those whom have budgets can adjust accordingly. Along with a price increase, I will also be confirming EVERY appointment and will be enforcing my 24 hour cancellation policy. I truly hate that it’s come to this point, but it has and I have to be strategic with my time and with my schedule. I am grateful that so many of you know my heart and my passion for this business. Money has never been my number one priority, but it does have to matter. Thank-you to all the have stuck by my side during everything. It is truly an honor for me to serve you.

So I am considering adding one or two days a month into my work schedule where I just do organizing/purging for clients. I absolutely love doing this, but usually there isn’t much time to do much when I am also cleaning. If I were to offer this, would there be interest? I would start by offering this service to my current clients, but would of course be open to taking on those whom are not as well. Price would be custom to the job, but can also be built around your budget.

Life has been pretty hectic these past few days. My daughter had emergency surgery to remove her appendix and it has put everything on hold for a bit. I can’t thank my clients enough for being so patient and understanding during this time. As much as I love my job/what I do…I will always be a Mom first. My sweet girl is so strong and brave. I am hoping she can go home later today, but either way…I am thankful for never having to leave her side because I have the job/clients that I do. Thank-you for everything ❤️
