Salon Floor Maintenance
Ever feel like someone poured a bucket of sidewalk salt onto your salon floor? We have been feeling like that all week! The truth is that year round maintenance is the key to an easy clean up during the winter. Here are a few tips from the pros:
1. Don't use acrylic shine products: Rejuvinate, Mop and Glow, Quick Shine, etc. We're playing the long game here. Do you want a shiny floor today and a half inch of cloudy buildup 6 months from now? (That needs to be professionally stripped off).
2. Use a high powered commercial vacuum weekly. Removing ALL salt, dirt, and hair makes mopping a breeze. More importantly, it protects your floors from being scratched and your mats from having hair burrowed inside.
3. Salt is very alkaline, so it leaves a cloudy smear. Add some white vinegar (1/2 C per gallon) to neutralize the salt for a smear free salon after it snows. Neutral cleaners should be used otherwise.
4. Polish your salon mats and chair bases by hand. I know its harsh...but its the only way to get a perfect result. We would be happy to help you out if you live near Wichita 🥰.
🍾Cheers to no more sidewalk salt in March
