👀 When was the last time your mini split had a deep cleaning?

Manufacturers commonly recommend cleaning or checking the washable filters every 2 weeks during regular use, but the exact schedule varies by brand, model, indoor air quality, and operating conditions. A deeper professional cleaning may be needed periodically—especially when the unit is used heavily, located in a dusty or humid environment, or shows signs of buildup. Always follow your owner’s manual for the manufacturer’s specific recommendations.

Mini splits can also develop microbial growth. Moisture from condensation, combined with dust and organic debris, can create conditions where mold, mildew, and bacteria may grow on or around the filter, coil, drain pan, and blower wheel. Musty odors, visible spotting, reduced airflow, or water leaks may indicate that the unit needs attention. Regular filter care helps, but it may not remove buildup in deeper components.
