How often do you *actually* stick to all those shiny new habits you set for yourself? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I mean, we all KNOW how important it is to set habits & we truly DO feel super committed to making them happen... at first...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Before you go attributing your "failed habits" to a lack of self-discipline, there's something I want you to know. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨Your habit setting process is NOT going to look like anyone else's✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yeah, what works for someone else is not guaranteed to work for you. Just because someone preaches the magic of meditation doesn't mean that you should force yourself to meditate when it's just *clearly* not doing anything for you!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The LAST thing to do when you hit a wall in your habit journey is "push through." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pushing through is *only* going to hurt you. Not only are you WAY more likely to burn out, but you are also losing the chance to let your intuition guide you towards a solution that will feel SO. MUCH. BETTER. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, here are some things to think about...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ Are you setting this habit because YOU want to or because you think you SHOULD? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As my new favorite quote goes, "If it isn't a F*ck yes, it's got to be a F*ck no." Don't waste your time on habits you don't *actually* care about.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ Can you change the way you define success for this habit?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you KNOW the habit is aligned, play with your expectations! Can you post 2 reels a week instead of 5? Maybe 5 minutes of meditation, instead of 15, is the sweet spot. YOU define your own success.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As awesome as the big milestones are, they don't just happen every day. What you do consistently on a *daily* basis makes more of an impact on your long-term success than single burst of energy ever could.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That's right, it's all about HABITS baby!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let's get real though, habits are hard AF to *actually* stick to. I mean, how many times have we all tried to start "eating healthy" or showing up on stories every day only for everything to fall apart after week one?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Personally, I used to struggle HARD with habits. I would be super committed for the first few days, maybe even a couple weeks, but the minute I skipped a day or two, it always felt impossible to pick them back up so I would just give up altogether... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sound familiar? 👀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The good news is that you don't have to live that space anymore! Here are the 3 strategies that I use to keep myself accountable and *actually* establish sustainable habits 👇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

→ Only set habits that are directly related to your current goals. {Look, us human beings don't particularly like change. It takes a lot of energy to develop new habits so why waste ANY of your limited energy on something that isn't going to directly help you get where you want to go?} ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ Use a HABIT TRACKER dammit! {You might *think* you know how well you are doing but, let me tell you, your brain is lying to you... it just is. Create a designated place to mark when a habit has been done & voila! You've got some actual data} ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ If you are consistently skipping a habit, add it to your daily to do list! {What we see, we do}⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Yeah, that is NOT how I am here to live my life & I'm guessing you're right there with me when I say that I would like to avoid that feeling as much as possible!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I want to actually ENJOY my days *thanks.*⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

✨before starting your day, look over what you need to accomplish to prep your mindset & expectations⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨avoid trying to time-block for individual tasks. Instead, create more generic work blocks that have task lists within them⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨as much as possible, completely finish the task you are working on before moving on to the next⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨when moving on to your next task, revisit your plan for the day, take a step back & choose your next task based on your current energy and what FEELS best! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good productivity app! I *absolutely* enjoy finding new strategies to hack my work flow... BUT... as amazing as they are, they can't INHERENTLY fix your relationship with planning.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What WILL improve this relationship is you actually taking the time to learn concrete planning strategies for your daily life and become an ORGANIZED QUEEN 👑⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

→Carve out some time to create your weekly plan ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→Create 3 columns for each day titled non-negotiables, personal, & work⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→Start by scheduling your non-negotiables for the next 7 days in their dedicated column. Include work hours, gym time, self-care... anything you are committed to doing at a certain time that will command your attention⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→Next, schedule tasks that need to happen on specific days {i.e. pay rent}, assigning them to either the personal or work column for that day⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→Finally, assess how much time you will *actually* have each day & sprinkle the rest of your to-do list over the week as evenly as possible! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Yeah, for real, you can hone in on your time management hacks ALL YOU WANT & it still cannot guarantee that you will feel as though your life is *actually* balanced. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I mean, bummer right?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Unfortunately, you kind of just have to accept that we need to get better at setting & enforcing our boundaries... and honestly, most of us really suck at this 🤷‍♀️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

For me, I can set boundaries all day long. The problem comes when I actually need to do the enforcing! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So, here are 3 strategies that I use to enforce my boundaries & get closer to experiencing the ✨magic ✨ of a truly balanced life...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ Have different to-do lists every day for personal & work tasks. By having a distinct line between your work & personal life, you can clearly see if you are biting off more than you can chew. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ Set time caps for yourself on activities you tend to *accidentally* spend too much time on. Getting lost in a project because you LOVE it? Great! Not having time to do anything else & working until midnight as a result? Not so great.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ Find a morning routine that works for YOU! Seriously, if I see one more post about you rolling out of bed 5 minutes before starting work... I am going to LOSE IT! You need to take care of the human running your business before she can take care of anyone else. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's time to stop letting our fear of enforcing our boundaries hold us back. **ttogether⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You know this, and yet, you continue to feel overwhelmed, overworked & underaligned... (is that a word? well it is now sista!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You are feeling some type of way because you continue to believe that there is an actual difference between the things you WANT to do and the things you NEED to do... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
THERE. IS. NOT.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Hear me out! We tend to think that that things we NEED to do should be prioritized & scheduled first. Then, if there is time left over, we can schedule in all of the things that we WANT to do. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I need you to stop thinking that way RIGHT NOW, cut that s**t out!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stop thinking about these tasks as two groups, and start understanding them all as ✨NON-NEGOTIABLES✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ That work meeting tomorrow? Non-negotiable. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ Your pilates class? Non-negotiable.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ Packing the orders from your last launch? Non-negotiable.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ Taking an hour long lunch break to walk the doggo? NON-NEGOTIABLE! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Everything on that list is EQUALLY important in your life. Personal priorities are equally as important as work priorities and should be treated as such...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This mindset shift makes it SO much more likely that you will *actually* start doing the things you keep saying you will because... well... they're NON-NEGOTIABLE!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Goal planning works the same way. All the work you put in clarifying your goals & writing extensive tasks lists isn't going to do a damn thing for you if you don't also take the time to ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here's the system that I use to schedule my goals & make daily progress that I can SEE 👇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

→ Look at your extensive task lists for each goal⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ Organize the lists in chronological order... I.e. what needs to get done this week? Next week? Not until next month?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ Assign each task to a day in your calendar/planner that you know you will have time to devote to the task. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
→ WRITE IT DOWN & SCHEDULE YOUR DAYS AROUND THESE TASKS AS YOUR PRIORITY⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
