The "Sugar-Coated Goodbye" Blues
I woke up this morninā, smelled a scent so sweet and fine,
Yeah, I followed that sugar trail, right down the baseboard line.
I thought I found the motherlode, a banquet for the crew,
But I didnāt see the shadow... of a size twelve muddy shoe.
Oh, I got them exterminated blues, sinkinā through my shell,
That "Special Offer" treatment... man, it hits just like a spell.
Spring is finally springinā, and the sun is shininā bright,
But for this little six-legger, itās lookinā like goodnight.
I saw a little white cloud, floatinā soft across the floor,
I shouldāve turned my thorax āround and headed for the door.
But that minty-fresh aroma, it went straight to my head,
Now Iām twitchinā on the linoleum... wishinā I was back in bed.
The Queen is gonna wonder why I never brought the crumb,
The colony is waitinā, but my feelers are goinā numb.
I hear the harmonica playinā a mournful, tiny tune,
Underneath the glow... of the fluorescent kitchen moon.
Yeah, Iām checkinā out early, baby...
No more picnics for me...
