😂 Not every cleaning day goes exactly as planned…

The other day I was cleaning an empty rental and decided to wipe down the doors with a mop (because let’s be honest… it’s SO much faster).

Somehow… I accidentally locked myself inside one of the rooms. 😅

No phone.
No way out.
Just me staring at the door wondering how I managed to do that.

Thankfully, I had my Apple Watch on, enough cell service to get a call through, and the landlord was able to come rescue me about 10 minutes later.

Needless to say… I now double-check every lock before I clean a door. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

The good news? The house still got cleaned, the landlord got a good laugh, and I have a story I’ll probably never live down.

Running a small business definitely keeps life interesting! ❤️

One question I get asked all the time is how I get shower glass so clean.

So far, Dawn Powerwash has been my favorite product for cutting through soap scum, and pairing it with a Magic Eraser has been a game changer. It’s honestly one of the best combinations I’ve found for tackling stubborn buildup. (As always, test products in an inconspicuous spot first, since every shower surface is different!)

A clean bathroom isn’t just about making it look nice—it’s about making your home feel fresh, bright, and cared for.

And yes… the shower glass is closed. 😂🚿

✨ Ever wonder why blinds are an add-on? Here’s why. 👇

This window has an AC unit installed, so I’m not folding the window inward to clean the outside glass. But that doesn’t mean I skip the details.

🪟 First, I use a specialty blind-cleaning tool to clean each individual slat.
🧹 Then I go back over everything with my regular duster to catch any remaining dust.
✨ Finally, I dust the window frame, tracks, and clean the interior glass.

One window like this takes me 5–10 minutes to do properly.

Now imagine a house with 15, 20, or even 30 windows… that’s hours spent just on blinds and windows!

That’s exactly why blinds are priced separately. You’re not just paying for a quick swipe—you’re paying for the time, attention to detail, and the difference between “looks clean” and actually clean.

✨ One of the most overlooked places in a home? The TOPS of your kitchen cabinets. ✨

Over time, grease from cooking mixes with dust and creates a sticky layer that loves to hang out where no one can see it.

My process:
🧼 I spray the tops of the cabinets with Dawn Powerwash to help break down the grease.
🧽 Then I use the scrubber side of a sponge to agitate everything and loosen the built-up grime.
🩷 After that, I wipe it all away with a microfiber cloth. If needed, I’ll do a final wipe with a lightly damp rag—but I try not to introduce too much moisture to the tops of cabinets to help protect the finish.

And the best part? That final bucket of dirty water. 🤢 It’s so satisfying knowing all of that grease and dust is gone instead of collecting above your cabinets!

It’s the little details like this that make a house feel truly clean.

Cleaning tip from a professional cleaner:

When I’m cleaning a bathroom sink, I don’t just look down at it—I use the mirror.

From my standing position, the sink might look spotless. But the mirror shows me everything I can’t see from above: the back side of the faucet, the underside of the handles, water spots hiding behind the fixture, and the front edge of the sink that’s tucked under where I’m standing.

The reality is that I’m only in your home for a couple of hours, but you’re looking at that sink every single day. If I miss a spot, you’re going to see it.

So before I call a bathroom finished, I always do one last check using the mirror. It acts like a second set of eyes and catches the details that make the difference between “clean” and “professionally cleaned.”

✨ How I Bring Glass Stovetops Back to Life ✨

People are always nervous when I tell them my go-to method for heavily baked-on glass stovetops: liquid Bar Keepers Friend and off-brand SOS pads.

I know, I know. 😅 It sounds scary.

But after cleaning countless glass stovetops, I’ve never had an issue with scratching when used properly, and it cuts through burnt-on buildup like a dream.

This stove had layers of cooked-on residue that didn’t want to give up easily. It took me 3–4 rounds of scrubbing, wiping, and rechecking before I was happy with the result. The entire stovetop took about 20 minutes, but seeing that shine come back made every second worth it.

💡 My biggest tip:
Don’t judge your work while the stovetop is still wet. Let it dry completely first. Once it’s dry, you’ll be able to spot any remaining food residue or buildup that was hiding under the moisture.

✨ And here’s the secret finishing step:
Glass cleaner.

After all the buildup is removed, I finish with glass cleaner to remove streaks and leave that beautiful reflective shine that makes the whole kitchen look cleaner.

Not every stovetop can be restored to brand-new condition, but my goal is always to get it as close as possible while protecting the surface.

This transformation took about 20 minutes, a little elbow grease, and a cleaner who genuinely loves bringing things back to life. ❤️

🚨 I NEED YOUR HELP 🚨

Yesterday I did a free cancer clean for a family that has completely stolen my heart.

Dad recently learned that chemotherapy is no longer working and is now receiving palliative care. Mom is overwhelmed. Daughter has become the family advocate, making phone calls, coordinating care, following up on resources, and trying to hold everything together while watching someone she loves go through the hardest battle of his life.

What breaks my heart is that this family has been asking for a shower chair for over TWO MONTHS.

Not days.

Not weeks.

Months.

They’ve been trying to get help, making calls, following up, and waiting. Meanwhile, Dad’s mobility continues to decline, and something as basic as taking a shower safely has become a challenge.

And it seems like every time they turn around, something else goes wrong.

Their car battery recently died.

Their gas stove — the same stove Mom has had since before her daughter was born nearly 30 years ago — finally gave out too.

When life is already this heavy, even the smallest setbacks can feel impossible.

Yet somehow they remain some of the kindest, most grateful people I have ever met.

When I first started cleaning for them, I asked what Dad loved to do when he was feeling good.

The answer was immediate.

🍓 Strawberry Fest in Cedarburg.

Next weekend will mark one month since his last treatment. Since treatment has stopped, I’m hoping he has a good day and feels well enough to go.

So I offered to take them.

I’ll drive.

I’ll buy lunch.

I’ll buy dessert.

If they need to take their own vehicle, I’ll cover the gas.

Because while I can’t fix cancer, maybe I can help create one more happy memory.

Mom also shared that money is incredibly tight. They recently sought help getting clothing and there was a mix-up, so I told them to send me their sizes and I’d happily spend a Saturday garage-sale hunting if it meant helping them get what they need.

But I know there are people on this app who know more than I do.
