As a professional cleaner AND a mom, hotel rooms hit very differently now 😂🧼

We’re staying at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Minneapolis-Mall of-America and the first thing I did was grab a brand new pack of Lysol wipes and start checking everything before Lukas got settled in 😅

I wiped down the remotes, bedside tables, bathroom surfaces, bathtub, pack and play, and checked the mattress corners for bed bugs. Thankfully, I found ZERO signs of bed bugs 👏

The room was honestly very clean. The only thing I noticed was a little grime buildup along the railing areas of the pack and play, but one Lysol wipe took care of it immediately.

I also checked the bathtub because once you become a parent, you suddenly care a LOT more about hotel tubs 😂 My baby is taking a bath in there, so I always inspect it first. The tub looked a little dark from normal use, but the wipe came back perfectly clean. I only found a couple hairs, which honestly can happen even after cleaning because dust and hair are constantly floating through the air and settling back onto surfaces.

What impressed me most wasn’t just the cleanliness — it was the staff.

I spoke with the general manager and told her I’m a professional cleaner and honestly had nothing but positive things to say about the room. I respectfully mentioned the pack and play area, and she was incredibly kind and receptive. She even told me to stop down later because she has a little present for Lukas 🥹

This is NOT a paid advertisement. I would stay here 100 times over again. The breakfast has been fantastic, the pool has been amazing for Lukas, the staff has been wonderful, and the pricing has been very reasonable for how nice and clean everything has been.

Cleanliness matters, but customer service matters too — and this place has both 💛

This is why move-in cleans cost more 👀🧽

Because most people moving into a new home are NOT thinking:
“Wow, I can’t wait to unscrew the air vents, drag them into the shower, spray them down with Dawn Powerwash, scrub years of dust and grime out of every little crack, and let them dry before putting them back on the wall.” 😅

But I am 😂

The little details matter when you’re moving into a new home — especially when it comes to dust, airflow, pet hair, and buildup you normally don’t see every day. A proper move-in clean goes way beyond just wiping counters and vacuuming floors ✨

A little shower transformation update since so many people loved the original video 👏✨

This glass shower door had heavy soap scum buildup and had gotten so cloudy over time that you could barely see through it. After some serious detail work, I was able to bring it back to clear glass again 😍

One of the biggest things with soap scum is consistency — it builds up layer after layer over time, especially with hard water. Sometimes people think the glass is permanently etched or ruined when it actually just needs the right products, technique, and a LOT of elbow grease 💪

Seeing the light come through the glass clearly again completely changed the look of the bathroom. It made the entire shower feel brighter, cleaner, and newer ✨

These are the kinds of transformations that make me love what I do. Sometimes it’s not about replacing something expensive — it’s about bringing it back to life again 🖤

24 windows later and this house is shining again ✨🏡

One thing about move-in cleans — the details MATTER. For these windows, I didn’t just wipe the glass and call it done. I started by spraying the entire window down with glass cleaner and letting it sit for a minute to loosen years of built-up dust and grime.

After that, I used a detail scrub brush to get into the lock mechanisms, corners, edges, and all those tiny spots people don’t usually think about. Doing it in this order made SUCH a difference because I could remove all the dirt first before polishing the glass. Otherwise, the loosened dirt just ends up flying back onto freshly cleaned windows and you have to start over 😅

I also cleaned the inside tracks and the area between the window and screen on all 24 windows — I just didn’t catch that part on camera because I was locked in and focused 😂

A clean window changes an entire room. More light, cleaner feel, and it just makes a home feel fresh again ✨

Nothing pulls a clean together quite like freshly mopped floors ✨🧽

After hours of detailing baseboards, scrubbing grout, vacuuming, dusting, and deep cleaning the upstairs of this move-in clean, finally getting to mop everything was SO satisfying. The shine on these floors at the end made the entire space feel refreshed again.

One thing I always pay attention to when mopping hardwood floors is the grain of the wood. If you watch closely in the video, you’ll notice I actually change directions from room to room because the wood grain changes throughout the house. Going WITH the grain helps the floors dry more evenly and keeps them looking smooth and shiny instead of streaky.

You’ll also notice I dumped out the mop water multiple times during the clean. It may take extra time, but I never want to spread dirty water throughout a home. Once the water starts looking cloudy, it’s time for fresh water again. Clean floors deserve clean mop water. 👏

Honestly, these floors cleaned up BEAUTIFULLY, and seeing that reflection and shine after all the hard work made my sore back worth it 😂

This is still part of Day 1 of a 3-day move-in clean, and I cannot wait to show the rest of the transformation over the next few days. 🏡✨

Day 1 of a 3-day move-in clean is officially underway 🧽✨

This clean is extra special to me because these clients are current recurring clients of mine, and they officially bought a home after working so hard and saving for it. They’re both doctors, and I am genuinely SO proud and happy for them. ❤️

Honestly, moments like this hit close to home for me because the reason I started Mad Mama Cleaning was to hopefully buy a house for my own family someday too. So getting to help prepare someone else’s dream home for move-in feels really emotional in the best way.

This house is also super unique because it used to be a duplex, so the upstairs layout had me completely questioning where the kitchen used to be 😂 If you watch the walkthrough, tell me where YOU think it was!

Today I focused on the entire upper floor, which alone took around 4–5 hours. A huge chunk of that time went into detailing baseboards, scrubbing grout, and getting into all those little areas that are easy to overlook but make such a huge difference once they’re clean.

You’ll also see me rocking the kneepads because these baseboards absolutely humbled me 😅 Being on your hands and knees scrubbing trim work is no joke, but the before-and-afters made it so worth it.

This clean is being done over 3 separate days because life doesn’t stop just because I’m cleaning a house. I’m balancing this around other scheduled clients and taking Lukas to his doctor appointments this week, so I’ve been leaving the job, handling mom duties, and coming back to continue cleaning. That’s the reality of being a working mom and small business owner — constantly juggling all the things while still wanting to give your clients your absolute best every single time.

I’m so excited to continue transforming this home over the next few days. 🏡✨

Started my day at 8:15am with a full deep clean
One hour in... hair already going up because you KNOW it's getting real
9 hours later... I walked out at 5:32pm and I felt EVERY minute of it.
We had plans for a double date tonight at Lion's Tail Brewing Company ..but the storms rolled in, so we stayed home with our baby instead
Honestly? After a day like today... I wasn't even mad about it.
Clean house for my client, cozy night for me.
That's a win
This is what building a business around your life actually looks like.
