Your house probably has one of these.

The little rubber seal around your washing machine door.

That thing is very good at collecting water, detergent residue, hair, and whatever else has decided to move in.

And because it's tucked away, it's easy to forget about.

Once a week or so, pull the seal back and give it a look.

Wipe out any debris, then clean the area with a product that's appropriate for your machine and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

And let it dry.

The part people tend to miss?

That seal needs to dry between washes.

Leaving the door closed every time traps moisture in there, which is exactly what you don't want.

So when you're done with laundry, leave the door ajar for a while.

Your washing machine has been doing its part.

You can give it five minutes.

Stop using more cleaner because something is really dirty.

A lot of people instinctively spray more when something isn't coming clean.

More spray.
More scrubbing.
More spray.
At some point, the countertop has basically been marinated.

But more product doesn't necessarily mean more cleaning power.

Sometimes the problem is dwell time.

Spray the product, give it the amount of time the label recommends to work, then wipe.

That little pause can make a surprisingly big difference.

And if you're disinfecting, contact time matters even more. The surface needs to stay visibly wet for the amount of time specified on the product label.

So if your current cleaning technique is:

spray → immediately wipe → spray again → become annoyed
..try giving the product a minute to actually do its job.

The internet has a LOT of cleaning advice.

Some of it is really good.

Some of it makes us wonder what people are doing to their houses.

And then there's vinegar.

Vinegar gets recommended for pretty much everything. Floors. Windows. Countertops. Bathrooms. Grout. Probably someone's toothbrush at this point.

And here's the thing: vinegar isn't bad. It just isn't magic.

Vinegar is acidic. That's exactly why it works so well on things like mineral buildup and hard-water deposits.

But that same acidity is also why it can be a bad choice for certain surfaces. With repeated use, it can damage or dull some finishes, and it can etch acid-sensitive materials like natural stone.

So before you reach for the vinegar bottle, take a second and make sure the surface you're cleaning can handle it.

It's a useful cleaner.
Just maybe stop handing it every cleaning job in the house.

Spring cleaning season is here 🌿✨ and mirrors always look easy… until they’re covered in streaks.

Quick trick: turn the lights off before you clean them.

Heat and light near the mirror can dry the cleaner too fast = streaks.

If they’re still streaky, it’s usually wrong product, wrong cloth, or the mirror just being a little stubborn that day lol.

What we use:
• Microfiber cloth (always)
• Sometimes a squeegee
• Light all-purpose cleaner
• Or Soap + water
• Or just water

Most of the time, it’s just microfiber + the right cleaner.

And once you get that right, mirrors are way easier than they act.

Be honest… are your mirrors usually crystal clear, or do they fight back a little?

Most homes don’t need a cabinet full of cleaners.

You can realistically get through almost everything with a few basics:

-a degreaser for kitchen grease
-a cleaner for bathroom buildup like soap scum
-and something for general everyday cleaning
-Disinfecting is more situational, not something most surfaces need all the time.

A lot of products people buy end up doing the same job in slightly different bottles.
