Let’s talk about what all I do when I clean your bathroom!
This particular photo was a “before” and “after” photo I took of this bathroom. It may not look any different, but a lot has happened!
15 steps that get the bathroom back to looking brand new. 15 steps that are much easier to have a hired cleaning lady do than have to do yourself. 😉
What all was done:
1. Dusting - high and low. Get all those cobwebs from the ceiling, the corners, the decor, the tops of the shower, light fixtures, vents, the walls and more!
2. Pull down the shower curtain! I always try to run the shower curtain through the washer if plastic and also the dryer if cloth. This can be one of the dirtiest part of the shower that NONE of us clean on a weekly/monthly basis.
3. Pretreat the toilets - get the toilets soaking with cleaning solutions.
4. Pretreat the shower/tub - start at the top and spray to let the product begin to break down soap scum and grime and pe*****te the mess to prep it for scrubbing.
5. Doors!! I always scrub the doors. They are often missed. And our hands are dirty and touch those doors frequently. I scrub the whole door panel and fixtures to clean them off and get them looking new again.
6. Clean the mirrors - pretty self explanatory. But some of the spots require some good elbow grease!
7. Sink time! Remove all items from the top of the sink - wipe off each one as it is removed to get rid of dust that has settled. Then clean the sink fixtures and scrub any hard water stains around the faucet. Clean the drain, scrub the sink well and the counter tops. Place all of the items back on the counters.
8. Wipe all drawer fronts and fixtures
9. Scrub the inside of the toilet. The bowl and the rim.
10. Scrub the outside of the toilet. Down the front, the sides. And remove the seat to scrub under the fixtures. Wash the seat while it is off. And then put back on.
11. Scrub the floor around the toilet base. Twice. Maybe 3 times depending on how soiled it is! Scrub the floor BEHIND the toilet. This is missed because a standard swiffer or mop doesn’t fit here!
12. Wash the outside of the trashcan that sits next to the toilet (it most likely has urine splattered on it even if you haven’t noticed!)
13. It’s shower/tub time!!!! Start at the top and end at the bottom. I do one section at a time and try to make sure I scrub evenly. This is just the first scrub. I come back at least 2 more times! Right now I’m using a standard bathroom cleaner and water with my power scrubber. After this I use my magic eraser and scrub each section again. At this point most of the walls are cleaned off and I use the squeegee and dry the walls. Now I work to the corners a the floors! I use the magic eraser and a scrubby with extra elbow grease to get out every stain possible. This takes the longest!
14. Scrub the base boards and where the baseboard meets the floors.
15. Sweep and Mop the floors to finish it out.
Whew! Are you exhausted just reading that!? I know I am. 😉 Don’t feel like tackling this task on your own? That’s where I come in!
