Hey everyone!
I feel like I have a lot of new followers, so I wanted to take a minute to reintroduce myself.
My name is Natalie McDougal, and I am the owner and founder of Natalie’s Clean Sweep, established in 2025.
A little backstory about me. I come from a family of six with three brothers. My work ethic was ingrained in me from a young age, whether I was working with my brothers and dad doing construction or helping my mom outside with yard projects, gardening, building garden ponds, and whatever else she had going on.
We were a homeschool family who grew up in a little town called Milton. Areas like Hyco, Semora, and the surrounding communities are home to us. We grew up swimming in those lakes, playing in those fields, and eating wild grapes straight off the neighbor’s vines. 🤣😂
Outside of working with my family, I started cleaning homes around the age of 9 or 10 so I could make money to buy Christmas gifts for my family. I worked for one family until I was about 15, along with a few other homes nearby in the neighborhood. I found out pretty quickly that I loved cleaning other people’s homes, even if I still didn’t love cleaning my own room at my mom’s house.
Fast forward to 2007, I met the love of my life at a bonfire, and we quickly hit it off. In 2009, we were married. My husband and I spent many years just the two of us before deciding to start a family in 2020. In 2021, our son Bennett was born, and our lives changed forever in the best way. That same year, our niece moved from Tennessee to North Carolina to live with us, and she has been the best big sister. ❤️
I was blessed to work remotely for an IT company based out of Durham and kept Bennett home with me until he was two. Eventually, we made the hard decision to put him in daycare so he could socialize with other kids. As hard as that was, it ended up being such a blessing. Bennett has apraxia, which causes severe speech delays, and being in school has helped him so much. His therapist is also able to work with him there two days a week, and we are forever grateful for that.
Fast forward again, I took a job at Wolfspeed remotely and absolutely loved the people I worked with and the work I was doing. Unfortunately, I was affected by the 2025 layoffs. Once reality set in, I tightened up my bootstraps and came up with a plan that would allow me to still have flexibility and be there for my son when needed.
I knew we could not afford to live on one income, so after stressing for about two weeks, I launched Natalie’s Clean Sweep.
The interest came almost immediately, mostly from dear friends from way back in the day. Friends I had gone to church with, homeschooled with, or known through our community. They trusted me with their homes and gave me a chance, and I will never forget that.
I may not be in a corporate position anymore, making corporate money, but I truly believe I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
At first, I only took on a few homes solo. Once I saw the impact it was making, I knew I needed to do more. Other families needed that same feeling my current clients had: a complete reset and one less thing on their plate.
Between word of mouth, amazing reviews, and this page, things took off fast. I went from three or four clients to over 15 in about two weeks. I knew I needed help, so I hired Shannon. She started part-time at first while I was still doing some homes solo to help cover products, gas, and everything else it takes to keep a small business running. It was not long before she was full-time and right by my side, and she has been with me pretty much since the beginning. The biggest blessing to not only me but to the family’s we care for!
I say all of this to say, I have had many jobs and been many places in life, but nothing has been more rewarding than what I am doing now.
To my current clients, thank you for giving me a chance and trusting us in your homes. To my future clients, give us a shot. You won’t regret it. 😉
Below is my reason why. ❤️
