I hope everyone is staying warm this winter. These recent warmer days have me so excited for spring. As soon as temperatures are consistently above freezing, I will be opening back up for appointments. I cannot wait to help refresh and reset your vehicles after all the winter snow and salt.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has signed the petition. I truly appreciate all the support the community has shown me. The mayor has given me a few potential avenues to explore, though it’s still uncertain whether any will be approved. However, with the incredible support from all of you, I’m hopeful we may have a better chance.

Thankfully, this situation arose just as the season for outdoor detailing was winding down due to the colder weather. If temperatures warm up occasionally, I may still be able to complete a few detailing jobs here and there. A small number of appointments shouldn’t raise any concerns, and I am permitted to detail for friends and family — and I consider all of you friends as well. Still, weather conditions will limit availability.

Thank you again for standing behind me. Your support means so much.

At this point, while I wait for the city to review my situation and explore possible solutions, the best step I can take is to show them the strong community support behind my business.

I spoke with code enforcement again today to discuss a few key points regarding my situation. Unfortunately, they stated that a waiver cannot be granted because the business activity is considered to alter the exterior appearance of my home and because it connects to the city’s sewage system.

I raised the question of how mobile detailing operations are permitted when their runoff enters the same system and also clarified that I have not made any changes to my property’s appearance. From the street, without any signage, it would simply look as though I were cleaning my personal vehicle. I also make sure everything is cleaned up thoroughly each day.

I’m open to forgoing signage entirely, so that should not be an issue. I’m continuing to push for a conversation with someone who can help explore alternative solutions or possible exceptions to the code, but so far I haven’t had much success. I also contacted the Mayor again asking for any alternative options. Fingers crossed they get back to me with some options soon.
