DONT LET MECHANIC SHOPS RIP YOU OFF.
JDMCarCare is a mobile automotive and motorcycle mechanic service operating out of Suffolk but servicing all of the 757. I’m capable of any and all repairs mobile that do not require a lift. (Engine swaps or any major maintenance is done in house).
Message from the owner:
Hey I’m Nate, the owner of JDMCarCare and like most people I got into working on cars to avoid dealership costs and getting ripped off at the mechanic shop. So let me tell you about my experience with a local shop.
I do NOT offer inspections sadly as the licensing requirements do not allow for mobile inspections. I recently took my work truck in for inspection at a local chain shop, sadly this is the one and only thing I still have to take my vehicle to someone else for.
The wait was short and I was in an out. HOWEVER, during that time an older lady came into the shop asking to get a quote on a ‘routine check up’ on her newer 2021 car with only 70k miles. She said it had no lights on, no leaks, nothing wrong with it, and the guy said ‘we can take a look that’ll be $130’ Getting your car checked routinely before issues arise is important. But JDMCarCare only charges $100 for a diagnostic and that cost gets credited towards the cost of repairs if you go through with them. She could have taken her car to any auto parts store and got it scanned for free if that’s all she needed. That’s why JDMCarCare credits it toward repair costs because I’m not here to rip you off.
That is not the problem I had with the shop. The problem I have is that they then proceeded to upsell her a $160 ‘Fuel system cleaning’ which is allegedly ‘Drip cleaning through your intake’, which as a 5 year mechanic not sure what that could mean, and the guy at the counter couldn’t elaborate or make it sound coherent to the customer either. That was literally all he said about it. I’m not claiming to be worlds best mechanic but I do try my best to explain, teach and educate when fixing customer vehicles. He then proceeded to convince her ‘the copper content in your brake fluid is probably bad’ so she would need a whole flush that costed upwards of $250. He didn’t even see the car at this point. She then asked ‘my mirror is broken and I have a replacement can’t it be installed’ to which the shop responded ‘That’s body work and we’re a mechanic shop’. As a business owner and someone who started this with a passion for cars, tinkering and repairing this really upset me that people are so easily taken advantage of and a mechanic shop couldn’t even install a new mirror.
I left before she did, but the last I heard her bill was at $630, she made an appointment for tomorrow and that’s not including all the ‘repairs’ they may find.
Let’s break down JDMCarCares Cost for the same service
$100. Yeah that’s it. $100 for me to come to you, on your own time, and if it does need repairs, the $100 goes towards it. Not only that, I actually show you what’s wrong with your vehicle and you can see it first hand.
I don’t really think I need to elaborate more. If you need auto repairs that won’t break the bank, someone who won’t sell you a bunch of stuff you don’t need, AND NOT TO MENTION YOU DONT HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR HOUSE, JDMCarCare should be your new mechanic.
