Let’s talk about an important topic (that WE personally feel) isn't discussed enough.
Car dealership add-ons. They cost a fortune. They hide the cost in your loan. They don't give you any relevant or important information about the product (or how to properly care for it). They pat you on the back (with a big smile) and send you on your way with your fancy new $2000+ wax/sealant.
This is the kind of scenario that happens hundreds, if not thousands of times a day. Salesman preying on uneducated customers and having some young kid (getting paid $15/hr) install your fancy new "bulletproof" coat of armor onto your brand new vehicle.
What if I told you that the only true benefit in this entire situation has nothing to do with you OR your brand new vehicle?
These "ceramic coatings" available at dealerships and car washes are nothing more than a fancy wax (maybe paint sealant at best) that cost you $1000 or more and fade away after just a few short months. Sometimes even weeks.
We’ve had many vehicles where the client had told us that the vehicle didn't need any special protection because it has "the diamond coating" or "special coating from the dealer" etc.
What’s upsetting is the fact that the second we began to perform the exterior process of their detail, you wouldn't even know anything was even on the vehicle. The water didn't fling off of the car, the paint didn't gloss any better after the wash was completed, the entire experience (as a professional detailer) was almost depressing for us. We could only imagine how we’d feel if we had spent all that money on a coating only to realize that I was possibly talked into giving my salesman a nice bonus on his paycheck instead of real protection on my vehicle (like we were promised).
Now don’t get me wrong, and don't get this mixed up. I am not trying to badmouth the salesman or the carwashes. I am trying to bring a negative situation to light and try to help educate you.
Car washes and dealerships don't have your best interest in mind. They have your wallet in mind. With that being said, hiring a professional detailer may be quite an investment, however, those of us (with any kind of noteworthy reputation) invest tens of thousands of dollars into our chemicals and equipment. The difference between a professional detailer and a kid making $15/hr is passion/pride, education, experience and loyalty.
You simply won't receive the same level of quality, guarantee/warranty, work or relationships from dealers and washes. When it comes to proper care for your vehicle, trust a professional detailer.
