If your Bermuda lawn is thriving right now, it is because of four things:

1) Heat - warm season grasses love hot weather. When the soil temperature is over 70 degrees, the lawn will grow. 🔥

2) Direct Sun - Bermuda is a full sun plant and the more direct sun it has, the better it grows. Zoysia is more shade “tolerant”, but will perform best in direct sun ☀️

3) Water - whether from Mother Nature or irrigation, deep waterings will keep the root zone hydrated. Two long waterings per week are adequate to keep the lawn growing in a Georgia summer. 💦

4) Fertilizer - Lawn Doctor of Loganville applies the proper nutrients at the right time for your lawn to thrive in the summer 🏡

Dog urine spots can appear fast during August heat. If you see yellow or brown patches with dark green edges, flush the area with water as soon as possible to help dilute concentrated salts and nitrogen.

For repeat trouble spots, a dedicated pet area with mulch or gravel can protect the rest of your lawn. Not sure if it’s pet damage, heat stress, fungus, or insects?

Lawn Doctor of Loganville can help identify the issue and recommend the right solution.

No two lawns are exactly alike.

Grass type, sunlight, soil conditions, irrigation, and weather all affect how your lawn grows.

That’s why a customized lawn care program often produces better results than a one-size-fits-all approach.

At Lawn Doctor of Loganville, we tailor our recommendations to your property’s specific needs to help keep your lawn healthy throughout the season.

Stop Watering Every Day—Your Lawn Will Thank You.

It seems logical to water a little every day, but that’s one of the biggest mistakes homeowners make.

Frequent, shallow watering encourages shallow roots. Shallow roots dry out quickly and struggle during Georgia’s summer heat.

Instead, water deeply and less often. Deep watering encourages the roots to grow deeper into the soil, creating a stronger, healthier lawn that’s better equipped to handle drought and heat stress.

For most established Bermuda and Zoysia lawns in Northeast Georgia, watering deeply 2–3 times per week (depending on rainfall) is a much better approach than daily watering.

Not sure if you’re watering too much or too little? We can help. Every lawn is different, and the right watering schedule depends on your soil, grass type, and weather.
