School may be out, but childcare centers and summer programs are just getting started.

With more activity, more shared spaces, and more little hands touching everything, summer is the perfect time to refresh and prepare your facility for a busy season ahead.

Here are a few areas that deserve extra attention before summer programs begin:

🧸 Shared toys & activity stations
🚪 High-touch surfaces like door handles and light switches
🪑 Tables, chairs, and nap areas
🚰 Bathrooms and sink areas
🏃 Entryways and floors with increased traffic

A clean environment helps create:
✅ A better first impression for parents
✅ A healthier space for children and staff
✅ A smoother start to summer activities

At Tiny Hands Cleaning, we understand that childcare cleaning is different because little hands touch everything.

What do parents immediately notice when they walk into your childcare center? Parents start forming opinions before they even finish checking in.

One of the first things they notice is smell.
If a facility smells stale, dirty, or overly chemical-heavy, parents pick up on it fast.

Next: floors and surfaces.

Sticky floors, fingerprints on glass, dusty corners, and overflowing trash cans stand out immediately. Now, you’re a childcare center. It’s understandable that sticky floors and fingerprints are bound to happen with children. But you need a plan to keep it to a minimum.

And then there’s the overall appearance of the classrooms.
Are toys organized? Are tables wiped down? Does the environment look cared for?

Because to parents, cleanliness is connected to safety and trust.

A clean facility doesn’t just look better, it helps families feel more confident leaving their children there.

One of the many documents our team uses to standardize cleaning. A standard process is great because it’s repeatable and ensures each space is cleaned accurately.

We also use checklists aligned with DECAL standards to ensure your space is inspection-ready every single day.

What standard processes do you like to use in your cleaning?

We’re proud to share that Tiny Hands Cleaning is now a vendor partner of the Georgia Child Care Association (GCCA).

As a company focused specifically on childcare center cleaning and disinfecting, partnering with organizations that support early childhood education is important to us. We understand that clean environments help support healthier spaces for children, staff, and families alike.

We’re excited to continue serving childcare centers throughout the Metro Atlanta area and supporting the professionals who care for little ones every day.

Thank you to the GCCA and to all the educators and childcare teams working hard behind the scenes each day.

Are you cleaning, sanitizing, or disinfecting? It can be easy to group all three together, but these are actually different concepts.

Cleaning means you're removing dirt and build up. Think using soap and water or an all-purpose cleaner to break things down and remove oil, dirt, etc

Sanitizing will lower bacteria, but it’s not meant to kill viruses.

Disinfecting kills viruses AND bacteria.

And here’s the thing: you can’t skip straight to sanitizing and disinfecting. Disinfectant wipes and sprays are significantly less effective on a dirty surface because that dirt acts as a protective barrier for chemicals, so you’ll always clean first, then disinfect.

If you have questions about cleaning and disinfecting in your childcare center, let us know.

What makes more sense: one time clean or recurring cleaning?

A one-time cleaning for a childcare center is usually more detailed and deep-clean focused. That may include:
✨ Extra buildup removal
✨ More detailed disinfecting
✨ Additional attention to neglected or high-touch areas
✨ Longer cleaning times overall

With recurring cleaning, spaces are maintained consistently. That means cleaners spend less time catching up and more time maintaining a healthy environment day after day.

At Tiny Hands Cleaning, we offer both one-time and recurring childcare cleaning services because we believe trust should be earned, not locked into a contract before you’re ready.

Sometimes a center simply needs help after a busy season, before licensing visits, after illness outbreaks, or just to reset the space. We’re happy to help with that too.

Whether you need a single clean or ongoing support, our goal is the same: helping create cleaner, healthier environments for children and staff.
