🎨⚡ “FORCES” at LAHA — Curated by Sung-Hee Son

Step into the Los Angeles Harbor Arts Building (LAHA) — the creative heartbeat of San Pedro’s Arts District — and experience FORCES, a dynamic group exhibition curated by Sung-Hee Son.

Featuring seven artists exploring the power of abstraction through painting, sculpture, and mixed media, FORCES transforms LAHA’s historic top-floor studios into a vibrant, energetic world of color, texture, and motion.

As one of San Pedro’s most iconic arts spaces, LAHA brings together more than 20 working artists — and FORCES showcases the artistic spirit that defines this building and our district.

Come discover the show everyone is talking about, meet the artists during First Thursday and Second Saturday, and feel the creative energy that makes LAHA the heart of San Pedro’s art scene.

San Pedro, meet your new cozy corner for authentic Vietnamese flavors, slow-drip phin coffee, and warm family hospitality. ❤️

Run by a local family with deep roots in the South Bay, Saigon Ơi Café blends heritage, creativity, and community—serving dishes made from scratch, without MSG, and filled with the stories that shaped their journey.

They’re still settling in and growing their menu, but every cup and every dish already feels like home.

📍 BREAKING ON THE WATERFRONT

The Federal Bureau of Prisons is officially shutting down FCI Terminal Island, the historic federal lockup sitting right across our San Pedro waterfront.

Federal inspectors found severe structural dangers — including crumbling concrete in the underground tunnels that house the prison’s heating system — forcing an immediate suspension of operations.

Nearly 1,000 inmates, including high-profile figures like Sam Bankman-Fried and Michael Avenatti, will be relocated in the coming weeks while officials determine the future of the site.

Built in 1938, Terminal Island has long been part of San Pedro’s complex history. But with more than $110 million in needed repairs and years of documented decline, the facility’s closure mirrors broader problems across the federal prison system.

We’ll continue to follow this developing story from the heart of the LA Waterfront.
