If your filter is leaking by the backwash valve it may just need to have the o-rings changed out. If it has been a while like this one was the o-rings had swelled and took a bear of a time getting them out without breaking the mechanism. Once replaced

During the off season is an ideal time to check your TDS (total dissolved solids) in your swimming pool. Water does get "old" and the chemicals start having a difficult time of doing their job effectively. f the test results are over 2,000 ppm, it's time to consider draining your pool and start off new. I highly recommend a pool professional for this task since a pool can "pop" out if not properly performed. Be sure to inquire if your pool company is insured. That way you're covered in case something unexpected does happen.
