Last year I wrote AB 30 because California was the only state in the country where you couldn't buy E15 gas. ⛽

It passed. One rule still kept it off the pumps.

Governor Newsom signed SB 795, and that rule is gone. ✅ Stations can use their existing equipment for E15 once manufacturers certify it's compatible.

It passed unanimously. Senator Bob Archuleta and our bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus did the follow-up work. 🤝

E15 should reach stations next year, with savings of 20 to 40 cents a gallon. 🚗

Perkins is my school. Same neighborhood. Same streets.

In 1864, in the middle of the Civil War, President Lincoln signed the Yosemite Grant Act and set aside Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoias for the public. 🌲

Our whole national park system grew from that idea.

Last month, my Republican colleague Greg Wallis and I urged the Trump Administration to reject a proposed land exchange at Yosemite with a private developer. 🏞️

These parks belong equally to every American. They are not for sale.

A classroom at one school. Another across town. That's how Launch Virtual Academy teachers have worked, spread over 4 or 5 Sweetwater campuses. 💻

This year they come together at the Millennial Library in Chula Vista. 📚

Dr. Moises Aguirre () says the pandemic pushed everyone online overnight and steps got skipped. One home base means time to train and get it right.

Over 700 students take part. Families want this flexibility. 🙌

About one in four Sweetwater students is in the process of learning English. That number rarely comes up when people talk about our schools.

Dr. Moises Aguirre () knows it from the inside. He was an English learner himself and didn't learn English until well into second or third grade. He says it helps him relate to the challenges and opportunities his students face.

High schoolers in a UC San Diego lab. College students from both sides of the border at the same bench. That's ENLACE.

Cal-Bridge has spent 12 years guiding community college, CSU and UC students toward a PhD and a faculty job.

The Governor signed AB 2660, the Cal-Bridge & Enlace Act. Both programs are now in California law. 🎓

Only 15% of California's 1.5 million tech workers are Black or Latino.

Only 4.5% of UC domestic STEM faculty are Latino, Black or Native American.

Cal-Bridge and ENLACE brought this bill to Sacramento. Now they have room to grow.

Painted by neighbors who wanted a park instead of a parking lot.

Chicano Park is a state and national landmark now. It started as a sit-in.
