Winter Pool Maintenance
1. Protection Against Cold-Weather Damage
Freezing water: If water freezes in pipes or equipment, it can cause cracks or significant damage, leading to costly repairs.
Protecting the lining and structure: Chemically balanced water prevents corrosion or deterioration of materials such as tiles, concrete, or fiberglass.
2. Preventing Dirt and Algae Accumulation
Avoiding algae: Even in winter, a lack of chemical treatment can allow algae to grow, which can be challenging to eliminate.
Dirt buildup: Leaves, branches, and debris can dirty the water and clog filtration systems.
3. Preserving Equipment
Pump and filter: Inspecting, draining, and lubricating equipment ensures it's in top condition when reactivated.
Heating system: If the pool has a heater, keeping it clean and protected extends its lifespan.
