Always breed for brains. Valkyrie WoW has such an amazing demeanor & intelligence about her. 🥰 thoughtful breeding at its finest. This is the second day she’s had a skidsteer visiting her field, with an active chainsaw to remove this enormous tree that joined her field. Such a smart yearling ♥️

When your horse’s back is swinging, it is supple and loose and he carries you into his gaits with a swinging rhythm. You're not sitting on your horse; rather, he allows you to sit into him and into his rhythm.

When a horse’s back is not supple and loose, you feel like you're being thrown out of the saddle. It’s difficult to sit and you can’t swing in the rhythm of your horse.

After a weekend away on the best birthday trip yet - compliments to great company, fabulous cooking & fun activities 🥰 on the eve of my final day of 30s… I’m back to business with the girls & Dougie. Dezi had a nice ride, finally managed to get Lira in the wash stall (compliments to a flag on an extension stick) & Dougie also got a nice thorough hosing. He will go back to work on Friday when the heat is less bad ♥️

The consequences of marching to the beat of your own drum. 🥁

If you choose, like I do, to practice doing things your own way, especially when that way isn’t the most traditional, you’ll eventually become very familiar with the consequences.

Some people won’t understand what you’re trying to accomplish.

Some will assume that different automatically means wrong.

Some will criticize your methods long before they ever see the outcome, or pass judgement because you haven’t met certain thresholds yet…

And sometimes they’ll be right.

That’s part of choosing your own path, too.

Doing things differently doesn’t exempt us from being wrong. It simply means we’re willing to think for ourselves, accept the consequences of those decisions, and keep learning along the way.

For me, that’s a trade I’m happy to make.

I’d rather thoughtfully question accepted practices than follow them simply because “that’s how it’s done.” Especially when I don’t like what I see.

Not because tradition is bad, but because progress has always required someone willing to ask, “Is there another way?”

Sometimes the answer is no…

Often, it’s yes.

Either way, I think it’s a question worth exploring. 🩵
