Can Paver Sealing Hide Oil Stains?
One of the most common questions I hear is, "Can you remove my oil stains before sealing my pavers?"

The truth is that oil stains often can't be completely removed, even with professional cleaners and hot water pressure washing. However, there's good news...

Paver sealing frequently makes oil stains far less noticeable—and in many cases, they virtually disappear.

Here's a simple test: Wet the stained pavers with a garden hose or even a glass of water. Can you still find the oil stains? Most homeowners are surprised to discover they're difficult or impossible to see. That's because water temporarily gives the pavers the same rich, enhanced appearance that a quality sealer provides.

The before-and-after photos are a perfect example. Although the oil stain wasn't completely removed, paver sealer can restore the color and completely blended the stains into the surrounding pavers.

Beyond improving appearance, sealing also: Protects pavers from everyday wear. Makes future spills easier to clean. Helps prevent stains from soaking deep into the pavers.

Over time, the enhanced "wet look" gradually fades. When your pavers begin looking dry again, typically around two years, it's time to reseal and restore both their protection and appearance.

This landlord has me soft wash his rental unit in Emerald Preserve/Summerlin every year. Located directly beside Julington Durbin Creek Nature Preserve, this home is surrounded by lush swamps and marsh areas that create the perfect environment for algae and organic growth. T

In some areas, the algae buildup on the driveway and sidewalks grows 1/4" thick and turns into a slippery slime when wet - Creating both a curb appeal and potential safety issue.

What do you think is causing the excessive mold growth here - the surrounding wetlands or the large tree in the front yard?

Don't wait for your annual cleaning to remove a mud dauber nest!

Mud daubers gather wet soil from places like garden beds, flower pots, leaking hose bibs, puddles, and the edges of retention ponds. Once they've collected enough mud, they build their nests in sheltered locations such as soffits, porch ceilings, light fixtures, and other areas protected from rain and direct sunlight.

The good news? Despite their intimidating appearance, mud daubers are among the least aggressive wasps. They rarely sting unless they're handled or trapped and actually help control spider populations.

The before-and-after photos below show what often happens when mud nests are left in place too long. We use a specialized motorized brush to remove the hardened mud as safely as possible, but once the mud has stained the paint, cleaning can't always restore the original finish.

Our recommendation: Remove mud dauber nests as soon as you notice them. Fresh nests almost always clean off completely without leaving stains. However, if they're allowed to remain for several months or longer you may be left with permanent discoloration even after professional cleaning.
