Today I was cleaning a dryer vent, and I found a screen over top of the exit of the dryer vent. That is not necessary and a hazard. As you can see in the picture below the lint has covered the holes of the screen and now the dryer cannot breathe. The dryer lint has just piled up to the point that when the client turned the dryer on it tripped the breaker. Also, the air flow tripled when the screen was removed. This house was recently built. The washer and dryer are only 7 months old. Tip to everyone: Do not put a screen over top of your dryer vent there is already a cover that keeps out the animals, it is sufficient.

We use an anemometer to measure the air pressure at the exit of the dryer vent. This client had 0 air speed when we arrived at the client's home. After we cleaned the dryer vent the air speed coming out of the vent was 1142 feet per minute. That is more than 10x the reading we got when we arrived. This client had no airflow when I arrived at the residence. By the time I left we had a drastic change. It now puts out a wind speed of 1142 feet per minute. That dryer is breathing freely.
