Housekeeper Job Purpose

Cleaning and maintaining a private residence or commercial building to make sure that it meets any housekeeping sanitation requirements (for commercial buildings) and provides a comfortable space for residents or employees.

Housekeeper Job Duties

Dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures

Cleaning and sanitising toilets, showers/bathtubs, countertops, and sinks, baseboards.

Maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen area

Making beds and changing linens

Washing windows

Vacuuming and cleaning carpets and rugs

Sweeping/vacuuming, polishing, and mopping hard floors

Using any cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, and other cleaning tools

Keeping bathrooms stocked with clean linens, toiletries, and other supplies

Cleaning mirrors and other glass surfaces

Emptying trash receptacles and disposing of waste

Washing blinds

Tidying up rooms

Monitoring cleaning supplies and ordering more as needed

Reporting any necessary repairs or replacements

Housekeeper Skills and Qualifications

Knowledge of and experience in Cleaning and Sanitising rooms to varying levels to meet requirements, Willingness to Learn new cleaning methods and how to use various pieces of equipment, Ability to Adapt to Different Situations and Change Work Processes to accommodate customer needs, Ability to Take Criticism, Listening Skills to make sure that they are meeting the needs of their clients for cleanliness and sanitation standards, Good Customer Service skills, Reliability, Organisational skills, Integrity and Honesty, High Energy Levels.

Cleaning Houses
At leats 1-2 years experience cleaning residential houses or hotel/motel rooms

Basic and Deep Cleaning
BASIC CLEAN (Recurring or One-Time Cleaning)
o Ceiling fans and light fixtures (dusted)
o Cobwebs removed
o Blinds and window sills (dusted)
o Moldings and woodwork (dusted)
o Baseboards (dusted)
o Lamp and lampshades (dusted)
o Pictures and knick-knacks (dusted)
o Furniture (dusted and polished and or vacuumed)
o Top of refrigerator
o Outside of appliances cleaned /inside microwave
o Stove-top and backsplashes (washed)
o All sinks (scrubbed/disinfected)
o Mirrors (Windexed)
o Tub/Shower and tiles cleaned
o All bathroom counters and fixtures cleaned
o Wastebaskets emptied
o Beds made (includes master and 1 additional bed)
o Stairs (vacuumed, wood dusted)
o Floors (vacuumed and /or mopped)
o Vacuum all carpeted areas
It is presumed that the home will be in order and somewhat picked up to facilitate heavy cleaning.
DEEP CLEAN (First Time, One-Time, or Special Request Cleaning)

Every “Deep Clean” includes the “Basic Clean” with detail emphasis and focus on build up, plus the following:
o Ceiling fan blades (washed)
o Light fixtures (hand washed in place / not removed)
o Blinds and shutters (vacuumed or washed) Mini-Blinds (dusted and washed )
o Moldings, woodwork, and window sills (hand washed or wiped)
o Baseboards (hand washed or wiped, reachable w/out moving furniture)
o Lamp and lampshades (dusted or vacuumed. with attachment)
o Pictures and knick-knacks (hand wiped)
o Furniture (polished, fronts, sides, legs and or vacuumed)
o Stovetop and drip pans scrubbed
o All Cabinet fronts cleaned
o All doors (washed)
o Light switch plates (washed)
o Countertops and backsplashes (washed)
o Mirrors (Windexed all the way to top*)
o Tub / Shower tiles (double scrubbed if build up)
o Wastebaskets (emptied / washed/relined)
o Beds made if fresh bed sheets and pillow cases are provided and bed is pre stripped of old bedding (includes master and any additional beds)
o Stairs (vacuumed, wood washed)
o Floors (vacuumed and/or mopped includes closets if floors are clear of items we do not move or lift up items in closet to clean these areas floors )
o Vacuum all carpet crevices (crevice along the edge where bugs, animal hair, carpet fibers collect)
