I can only assume the previous technician saw the pulsating flames and abnormal pressure on this Heat & Glo Pier-hvblp-ipi and thought "let's put 81 screws in the burner to even that pressure out !" The homeowners wife also added around 30lbs of glass media on the burner and covered all fresh air holes. This was a doozy but you never know what you'll see !

Fun fact: If the manufacturer wanted screws installed, they wouldn't have strategically placed holes in the burner🤦🏻‍♂️

Mercaptan, or Methanethiol, the additive added to natural gas, propane, and butane gas to give the gas it's signature smell, attracts common pests like spiders. Much like your outside grills, spiders flock to gas fireplaces too !
Here we see the burner tube and burner or***ce both have webs in them, causing extremely low to no pressure, resulting in low flames.
A pressure test isn't necessary if you've already assumed it's spiders, but it doesn't hurt to test pressure after you clean them out to ensure you have the proper outlet pressure !

Another favorite ! Real Fyre Gas Logs G18-24-01. Painted the inner bricks black for that added 🤌

This Empire Comfort Systems (Model B60sp90p) was a neat fix.
Unit was brand new only worked once before it stopped. I found a melted LED transformer (when they tested it the cord was sitting on the burner) and dead batteries. Got the new part and batteries installed and this was the test. As you can see the LED strip in the back didn't work but that was as easy as checking the connection and fixing that. After testing everything, it was all put together and ready for the homeowner and contractors to do the finish up !
