🧱💧 Mr. Pressure PAVER EDUCATION #110: ARE YOU PROTECTING YOUR PAVERS OR PAYING TO RESTORE THEM?

What if the biggest expense in paver ownership isn't maintenance, but fixing damage that could have been prevented?

Let's talk about something homeowners aren't always educated on: the difference between protecting your pavers and repeatedly restoring them.

💧 1. NOT ALL SEALERS ARE CREATED EQUAL!

Topical acrylic and polyurethane sealers create a coating on the surface. They can enhance appearance, but that coating can eventually whiten, peel, deteriorate, or require stripping.

Our penetrating silane/siloxane sealer works differently. It penetrates the pores, creating a hydrophobic barrier WITHIN the paver rather than a film on top.

Think of your pavers like a sponge. Different densities and porosities affect how water is absorbed.

And remember, NO SURFACE BEADING DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN NO PROTECTION!

A quick water demonstration alone cannot determine whether a penetrating sealer has failed.

DO NOT FALL FOR THE SALES TACTIC!

🌱 2. DOES SEALING ELIMINATE MAINTENANCE?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Some products are marketed with promises of hardened sand, w**d prevention, and little to no maintenance.

But hardened sand doesn't permanently prevent w**ds. Airborne seeds, moisture, and organic debris still exist.

And when certain topical coatings deteriorate, homeowners can face an expensive cycle:

WASH → SEAL → STRIP → RESTORE → RESEAL.

There's a reason understanding the product's long-term maintenance requirements matters just as much as the initial price.

🧱 3. YOUR FIRST WASH CAN DETERMINE THE FUTURE OF YOUR PAVERS!

Excessive pressure and aggressive turbo nozzles can permanently erode the factory face layer, exposing the aggregate underneath.

Once that original surface is destroyed, no sealer can recreate it!

🚨💦 PAVER EDUCATION 108: CLEAN DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN UNDAMAGED!

⚠️ Your pavers can look spotless after pressure washing, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t damaged in the process!

Remember Paver Education 101, when we talked about the FACE LAYER?

Many manufactured concrete pavers have a dense decorative surface layer that provides their finished appearance and helps resist wear.

💥 Once that layer is eroded, no amount of cleaning or sealing can recreate it!

But pressure isn't the only concern!

🔬 ACIDIC CLEANERS: Can etch natural stone and damage concrete pavers.

🧪 STRONG DEGREASERS: Can compromise certain sealers and finishes.

💦 SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE (SH): Effective when used correctly, but improper application can affect certain surfaces and sealers.

💥 EXCESSIVE PRESSURE: Can strip the face layer, expose aggregates, and displace joint sand.

🚨 HERE'S WHAT HOMEOWNERS SHOULD KNOW:

A spotless driveway doesn't always mean an undamaged driveway!
