While much of the country is preparing to close up their pools for the season, here we're still enjoying the outdoor spaces that make Florida living special.

There's something about the combination of cooler mornings, warm afternoons, and the sound of water flowing from a raised spa that makes this time of year particularly enjoyable.

Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know the chemical that protects your pool's chlorine can also work against it?

Florida sunshine can break down chlorine in outdoor pools. That's where cyanuric acid (CYA), also known as chlorine stabilizer, comes in.

CYA helps protect chlorine from UV sunlight, allowing it to last longer in the water.

But here's the catch: When stabilizer levels get too high, chlorine becomes less effective at sanitizing the pool—even when a chlorine test shows there's chlorine present.

That's why maintaining the right relationship between free chlorine and stabilizer is so important.

The takeaway: More stabilizer isn't always better. Proper water chemistry is about balance, not simply adding more chemicals.
