Recently, our team had the opportunity to help a neighbor safely get their heat back. They noticed their system was making unusual noises and shutting off randomly, which is never something you want during a cold stretch.❄️

In this case, debris had come down through the chimney and built up inside the oil boiler’s heat exchanger, including the burn chamber and cast iron sections. Over time, that buildup restricted airflow, reduced efficiency, and affected proper operation.

After a thorough cleaning and necessary adjustments, we were able to get everything running properly again.

Knowing this member is now safely and comfortably enjoying their heat reminds us how grateful we are for the opportunity to serve our community.😀

❄️With the upcoming winter storm, here are a few simple ways to protect your comfort and your HVAC system❄️

• Check Air Filters – Replace dirty filters and make sure vents are uncovered to keep airflow strong during heavy system use.
• Set It and Leave It – During extreme cold, avoid frequent thermostat changes to reduce system strain.
• Protect Your Pipes – A slow drip from faucets and opening sink cabinets can help prevent frozen or bursting pipes by keeping water flowing and allowing warm air to reach the pipes.
• Clear Snow From Outdoor Units – Your HVAC equipment needs airflow to operate properly, frequently remove the snow from on top and around the unit.
• Clear Snow From Outdoor Pipes and Vents – Snow blocking intake and exhaust pipes can cause performance and safety issues. Also ensure your dryer vent is cleared from snow as well.
• Schedule Annual Maintenance – Preventive maintenance helps catch problems before extreme weather exposes them.
