It's peak wasp season in North Houston, and the nests are as full as they'll get all year.

That quiet nest under your eave in May could be housing well over 100 wasps right now. 🐝

Why it matters this month:

🔺 More wasps per nest means more defenders if one gets disturbed
🪜 Nests are tucked in high-traffic spots: door frames, patio covers, playsets, grills
🌡️ Warm weather keeps them active and foraging into the fall
🏡 One bumped nest near the patio can turn a backyard cookout into a scramble inside

Paper wasps aren't out to get you, but they will defend the nest, and this is the time of year when there are the most of them to do it.

🚽 Up through floor drains and toilet lines
🔧 Around gaps where pipes enter walls
💧 Through dry P-traps in guest baths and laundry rooms that don't get used often
🌧️ In bigger numbers after heavy rain pushes them out of the sewers

A spotless home doesn't make you immune. If the plumbing offers a road in, they'll take it.

That skinny, crumbly tube running up the foundation isn't dirt splatter or a crack. It's a termite mud tube, and it's one of the clearest warning signs a home can show.

🪱 Subterranean termites build these pencil-width tunnels out of soil and saliva to travel from the ground to your wood without ever exposing themselves to open air
🏠 The tube is a highway. It means termites are actively moving between the soil and the structure, feeding somewhere you can't see
🔨 Damage happens quietly from the inside out, which is why most homeowners never notice until floors, trim, or framing start to give
🌧️ Warm, humid conditions across our area keep these colonies active for much of the year, not just spring
👀 One tube usually isn't the whole story. Where there's one, there are often more along the slab or in the crawlspace
