Energy rates are projected to increase by at least 6% this summer across the U.S., but some areas are seeing hikes of 15% and higher. New England is experiencing a 20% hike since 2024, and the Midwest is seeing a 15% hike. The graph below shows the projected electricity costs for each U.S. region for Summer 2025. How will your bill compare?
If you want to minimize your electric bill this season, optimizing your AC energy usage is a great place to start. Here are some easy changes you can make:
π‘ Keep your air vents clean and clear. Dust and objects surrounding the vent can block airflow and make your AC use more energy to get the same job done.
π‘ Close curtains and blinds during the day to block out heat from the sun.
π‘ Regularly change your air filter. Clogged filters make your AC use more energy to push air through.
π‘ Schedule an AC tune-up with Filterbuy HVAC Solutions to ensure your AC is running as efficiently as possible.
π‘ Open windows instead of using your AC when outdoor temperatures are lower than indoor temperatures.
"We predict that prices will be this high for two reasons: first, the cost of electricity is rising faster than the average rate of inflation, and second, temperatures are continuing to increase." - National Energy Assistance Directors Association
