We inspected the vent with our camera and noticed buildup of lint throughout the vent. There was a slight clog at the 90-degree elbow above the dryer inlet. We cleared the 15 ft. vent and the 6 ft. vent from the dryer. While cleaning the dryer we noticed there were dark scorched markings on the electric heater element. These marks are where a FIRE had started but fortunately self-extinguished. The lint that was on this heater caught fire. When your dryer vent is clogged, lint has a difficult time escaping to the outside. Lint will enter the inside of the dryer and settle. Sometimes it lands on the heater element and can catch fire.
