In 1987 my father retired from the military after 21 years as a Navy pilot and commander. In 1989 he started a pool company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on a dare. Knowing nothing about the pool business he joined with experienced partners and created Valhalla Pools, LLC named after the Nordic Heaven (his play on everyone else's "Heavenly" or "Paradise" pools). Within the first year of business Val
halla Pools was awarded an International Medal for Best Pool in the World by design. Soon after as a small family business we built a customer base of loyal and satisfied customers through knowledge, education and personalized service. Through the years I worked in every aspect of the pool industry such as construction, service and retail. We prided ourselves on our relationships with customers and our knowledge of water chemistry and engineering, not just marketing. After finishing a 4 year degree in Management at the University of Dayton I returned home to help run the family business. The market and economics at that time were hard on small business but we powered through with the philosophy of customer service and loyalty. We always believed that trust is the foremost in a customer relationship and our customers that trusted us were always happy. Upon my father's encouragement I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona to pursue a different career. Mortgages, banking and hospitality all made me realize I needed to get back to something I was passionate about, pools. I decided to start Valhalla Pools, LLC in Arizona to continue a business founded by my inspiration, hero and dad. Nothing gives me more pleasure than too start a business based on the values that he has instilled in me and to make sure that Valhalla Pools, LLC continues on as a company that is respected, valued and appreciated.
