It’s that time of year again!

This customer recently bought a home without having the pool inspected before the final purchase. He was assured that the pool filter cartridge was brand new along with a few other “corrected issues” but unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case here. This would also explain why the water quality is very poor at the moment.

Running your filtration system with a filter cartridge this dirty will cause a variety of major problems including poor circulation, poor water quality and a high risk of equipment damage. This filter was so dirty it was even overheating the pool pump, causing it to frequently trip the circut breaker.

Part of a pool inspection is inspecting the skimmers.

This home owner just recently had a fiberglass pool installed and wanted to have a private safety inspection done after the project was completed.

As you can see, there’s multiple problems with this picture. The skimmer basket is full of debris, the water level is low and the skimmer throat was installed incorrectly. The screw you see should not be there and is a hazard for anyone trying to empty the skimmer basket. There’s also another screw just outside the picture frame. Not too sure what the installers were thinking, this is not a common practice.
