Termites are active all year. 01/06/26 is when I ran into this during a Wood Destroying Insects report for a customer doing a refinance. Customer thought that termites were not active in winter. But they absolutely are, the real cold can slow them down but they stay active nevertheless

January is usually pretty cold in Sweet Owen. While you’re staying warm inside, mice and spiders are looking for any tiny gap to join you.

Check your utility lines (where pipes and wires enter your house). If you see a gap, don't just caulk it—stuff it with steel wool or extruder first! Mice can't chew through the metal, and it keeps them from turning your crawlspace into their winter home.
