This page is about promoting litter reduction in beautiful places using our existing hobbies and pursuits while spending time outdoors with our friends. It is about building personal stock in the appearance of our surroundings. Use this page as a way of sharing ideas and information about locations that need picking up, responsible activities to enjoy in those locations, and positive experiences h

ad while gathering garbage. This page is NOT intended to be a place for individuals to express grievances regarding litterers or participate in negative societal, political, or theological debates. Remember to be safe while you are gathering; wear gloves if necessary, don't pick up anything questionable or too dirty, and always wash your hands afterwards or use an anti-bacterial hand cleaner. Post your experience and a picture of your haul to the Garbage Gatherings map.

This coming Saturday, September 17, there are two great clean-up events in Sonoma County. The Russian River Watershed Clean-up will be working to remove trash from Jenner to Ukiah: http://russianrivercleanup.org.
Friends of the Petaluma River are also hosting their fall clean-up event at Steamer Landing Park: http://friendsofthepetalumariver.org/project/conserve/.
Come out and support one of these great events!

This is egregious! Unfortunately, a plastic bag isn't going to fit a few dozen used tires.

While this kind of litter is not as problematic as intentionally littered cigarette butts and broken glass bottles, we must take the opportunity to better teach young children how to be more responsible with their waste.
