I’ve had every job you can think of. I’ve been treated poorly , yelled at , disrespected you name it. But I needed a job. Had a son to support. I’ve been in management positions, owned businesses, I always tried my best to respect those who needed a job. Need gas money the first week? Sure I’ll help. I’ve been there before. For the life of me I always showed up. If I was sick , upset , hurting , I still got up and did the work. I needed the money. And I gave my word I’d be there and do what was asked of me. If I can work with 104 temp, sick at my stomach, recovering from broken bones , and still muster the will to show up and try , then why can’t everyone else? What has changed in our society that people go through the effort of filling out an application, meeting, show up one or two nights and then just ghost the job. I don’t scream , yell or disrespect anyone. I never ask anyone to do anything that I am not prepared to go do myself. I’ve owned this business for about 7 years now. I’ve never called in. Never went even one day without doing what is required of me. I can’t. Employers depend on employees to show up and do what is asked. In return you are paid for your time. Employers sometimes go without their own paychecks to make sure everyone else is paid. Bills are paid. You are furnished working equipment in order to do the job. Trucks , gas , tires, leaf blowers , insurance. Behind the scenes in most cases an employer works double the hours you do. So when you can’t even show up for 6-8 hours on scheduled nights it just leaves me dumbfounded. How can you get by, pay your bills ? How can you shake my hand and look me in the eyes and say I got this I’ll be here , I’ll do it. Then just disappear. I’m not speaking of one person , I’m speaking on several. You want the job, need the job , then there’s always an excuse not to show days later. I can’t make excuses. I can’t not pay people. I can’t not show up everyday or there is no job. I’m looking for someone whose word still means something. Someone who means what they say, and proves it. There is room to grow and actually have a decent job where you simply show up and do what I ask. Very simple yet through all my years and experience only a handful have ever truly proven themselves to me. If you know of someone who needs a job , will show up , and do what I ask , a person of respect and fortitude, I’d appreciate it and definitely try and meet with them.
