Thirteen years ago, I was left with nothing — I had three children and a grandchild to provide for. We lived in a one-bedroom apartment at my parents’ home.

On 9/13/2013, VKR Landscaping was born.

I started with no degree, no formal education, and no financial backing — just hunger, determination, and the will to survive. Success isn’t about having a diploma or speaking perfectly. Success is about resilience. It’s about waking up every day and refusing to quit.

Today, during Women in Construction Week, I reflect on how far I’ve come and how many women in this industry work tirelessly without recognition. Sometimes the spotlight shines on the wrong people, and the real women who built their businesses from the ground up are forgotten.

To every single woman working in construction — especially the ones who fought their way here — I see you. I celebrate you. I congratulate you.

We are strong. We are capable. And we belong here.

Dear Lord, we made it to the last Tuesday of June and i thank u for waking me up again this morning. Thank u for each day u kept me safe, healthy & alive. I pray that today will be a good day for me & for everyone reading this prayer. May u be beside us the whole day and may u guide every step & decision we have to make. Help us remove & leave behind any negativity. Remind us that every day u wake us up is a brand new opportunity for new blessings, miracles, healing, learning & for a financial breakthrough. I thank u for letting me sleep peacefully last night & for recharging my mind & my body. Thank u for watching over my family as we slept. I pray that u keep me & all my loved ones safe today. Block any evil that tries to get close to us. I declare that no weapon or evil formed against me, my family, my loved ones & everyone under this prayer will ever prosper. I lift up in prayer anyone who is going thru any sickness, heartbreak, or any problems. Lord i humbly ask that u heal our mind, body & souls. Pls give us a beautiful, peaceful, successful & fulfilling day today. We thank u in advance. We surrender & were leaving everything in ur hands. Lead me to ur beautiful plans for my life.
