Sophie says...It is important to remember (especially this time of year with cold and flu season upon us), to disinfect not only surfaces in your home but things in your house that you touch all the time! Did you know that bacteria from a cold virus can live on surfaces for up to 7 days?! (Yeech!) When Sophie cleans, her thorough service includes disinfection of light switches, doorknobs, cabinet doors, handles/knobs/pushbuttons, remote controls, phones, etc. We leave our germs on everything we touch! When we have a hard time getting over a cold, it is sometimes because we keep reinfecting ourselves on existing bacteria! So, whether you have Sophie do it or you do it yourself, remember to disinfect!

Sophie Says... A clean house reduces stress and makes people happier! And, it ends those arguments about who is going to clean what and when! When you have so much going on in your life, there is nothing wrong with letting someone else do the "dirty" work! And, there's nothing like the feeling of coming home from a long day to a clean house! Just ask Sophie's clients! Have a good day!

Sophie's tip for the day... While vinegar/lemon and water can be used to clean many things, you should avoid using them to clean your flooring. Especially finished or unfinished wood flooring. (Some manufacturers will void the warranty on your flooring if anything but water, PH neutral cleaner, or their suggested cleaning agent is used.) Over time, the acid in vinegar or lemon juice will ruin the finish or natural texture of your flooring. Sophie suggests using a mild PH neutral cleaner that will actually maintain or restore your floor's natural luster. PH neutral cleaner can be found in most stores that carry cleaning supplies. And, it's a little known fact that dish soap is commonly PH neutral. However, if you use this, it only takes a minimal amount (one tsp.) per gallon of water. And, when mopping wood flooring remember... water is actually wood's archenemy (sealed or not)! Instead of "wet mopping," Sophie suggests "damp mopping" where your mop is NOT soaking wet. And, never let water sit for any length of time on the floor. Using a spin mop (Sophie loves the O'Cedar spin mop), is a great way to achieve getting the appropriate dampness to clean your floor!

HELP WANTED - Part-time cleaning for a small residential and commercial cleaning company. Must be committed to providing thorough and timely cleaning of residential homes and commercial properties. Prior cleaning experience is preferred but not absolutely necessary. Even those with prior experience will be expected to adopt the cleaning standards and practices of Sophie's Polish Cleaning LLC. Cleaning hours are scheduled for weekdays only, between the hours of 8am and 4pm, with part-time hours of 10 to 25 hours/week total. Your own vehicle and valid driver's license are required. PLEASE DO NOT CALL. Only serious, honest, dependable, applicants should submit applications through Facebook or email. A minimum of 3 personal and/or work references must be provided (with at least 1 being an employment reference). Projected starting date is Monday, August 9th (or sooner).
