Your dog’s p**p is basically a daily health report — and it’s one of the easiest ways to spot a problem early.
The goal is simple: smooth, sausage-shaped, soft but formed (easy to pick up, not watery).
A “normal with small cracks” can happen too — it usually just means the stool is a bit drier and your dog may need more hydration.
If you’re seeing tiny hard pellets, lumpy dry logs, soft blobs, mushy piles, or watery diarrhea, it often points to things like diet imbalance, too many treats/toppers, sudden food changes, stress, dehydration, or a sensitive gut.
Here’s the rule that saves a lot of worry:
One weird p**p can happen. But patterns matter.
If it keeps repeating, your dog is telling you something — and it’s worth paying attention.
⚠️ Call your vet if diarrhea lasts over 24 hours, there’s blood, vomiting, weakness, or if your dog is a puppy/small dog (they can dehydrate fast).
