Looks like power bills are heading up again in Florida. With the Public Service Commission approving another rate increase for FPL customers, many of us are feeling it, especially just trying to keep the house comfortable year-round.
(Sharing this article for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.)
It got me thinking about how often these increases seem to come around, and how little control most of us feel over our monthly energy costs. Even small hikes add up over time. 💡
For those who don’t know me, I’ve spent the last 7 years working in solar and have had a hand in everything from installations to system operations and long-term performance. I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the “I wish someone explained that better before I signed.” That experience is really what’s driving this post.
Solar isn’t a magic solution and it’s not right for every home, but in a state with this much sun, it can be a way for some homeowners to gain more control over their energy use, stabilize costs, and move toward cleaner power at the same time.
I’m not here to pitch anyone or pressure decisions. I genuinely just want to open up a conversation:
🌞 What questions do you have about solar?
💬 If you already have panels, how has your experience been?
📉 Do rising utility rates make you curious about alternatives?
If anyone wants a no-pressure, honest conversation about solar - what works, what doesn’t, and whether it even makes sense for your situation - I’m always happy to talk. Comment below or send me a message.
Let’s help each other stay informed and support cleaner energy here in our community.

The rate increase approved this week by FPL was done over objections of advocates for the elderly and conservation groups. Here's what to know.
