✨ Five Cleaning Mistakes You Might Be Making (And How to Fix Them!) ✨

Even the best of us make these without realizing it, so here’s your quick Cleaning Fairy rundown to help you protect your home, your surfaces, and your sanity:

1. Mixing bleach with hot water
Hot water actually breaks down bleach and weakens its disinfecting power. If you’re going to use bleach, stick to cool water and never mix it with other cleaners.

2. Using acidic cleaners on natural stone
Vinegar, lemon, and acidic sprays will etch and damage natural stone like marble, granite, and quartzite. Always use a pH-neutral cleaner to keep your counters safe and streak-free.

3. Using Magic Erasers on the wrong surfaces
Magic Erasers are basically fine-grit sandpaper. Too much pressure can take the paint right off walls, trim, and cabinets and they can also scratch stainless steel appliances, leaving dull spots you can’t buff out. Always use a light touch and spot test… or skip them entirely on delicate surfaces.

4. Using Dawn Powerwash on wood cabinets or painted finishes
It cuts grease really well… sometimes too well. It can strip paint or dull your finish if you’re not careful. Save it for dishes and certain non-painted surfaces.

5. Skipping the top-to-bottom method
Not dry-dusting first or wiping in the wrong order just spreads dirt around. Always work top to bottom, dry to damp, so you’re removing grime not redistributing it.
