I know many of you who follow me, don't know me so I wanted to take the time to introduce myself and explain why I do this. My name is Anna Wood, lifelong Yuba-Sutter resident. I recently graduated college with my majors in history, anthropology and social and behavioral sciences. Although I hold those degrees, my real passion is cemetery history and care giving. My calling throughout my career has led me to the bedsides of those in need of care, including palliative care. Caring for those in the end stages of their life, and their families, has been an honor. I'm my best when I am helping grieving families navigate death care. I have been a volunteer at the Historic Marysville Cemetery for the past decade, and during my time volunteering I learned alot about the do's/don't's of site maintenence.
When my own body wasnt able to lift on patients anymore, it came time for me to decide what I would do, that genuinely made me happy. That's when I began my business as a grave tender. It made sense to continue to care for these families in their time of grief in a way that was unique to me. Since then I've worked with many families, giving their loved ones a dignified place to rest, for a reasonable cost. Things I want you to know about me:
• This isn't just a job to me, it's my passion.
• I don't see your loved one as a job, I see them as individuals with a personal history & story, unique to that person.
• I talk to them while I work. Sounds funny, but I do. I genuinely care about the job I'm doing and it helps give me peace while doing it. When I'm with them, they are my only priority.
• I treat each individual as if they were my own.
Caring for gravesite is a rewarding job. It puts me in contact with alot of people who are hurting over the loss of a loved one, and nothing makes me happier leaving them with a little more peace of mind when I'm done. I feel it is an honor to be trusted and chosen to care for your loved one, and I would be happy to do so.
