Spring often means ants and termites. Summer brings spiders, mosquitoes, and roaches looking for food and water. As the weather cools, rodents start looking for warm places to nest.

That's why our recurring pest service is designed to protect your home year-round—not just when a problem appears.

Not every spider in your home is one you need to worry about.

North Texas is home to dozens of spider species, but only a few are considered medically significant. The challenge is knowing which ones you're seeing around your home.

In our latest blog, we cover some of the most common house spiders found in North Texas, where you're likely to find them, and what their presence might be telling you about your home.

One thing many homeowners don't realize? Spiders usually aren't the problem—they're a sign that other insects have made themselves at home first.

If you're seeing spiders more often than you'd like, year-round pest protection can help reduce the insects that attract them in the first place.

Your home's first line of defense starts on the outside.

Small gaps around doors, windows, utility lines, and the foundation can give common pests an easy way inside. That's why every Myles service includes a careful inspection of your home's exterior—not just a treatment.

By helping stop pests before they get indoors, we can provide longer-lasting protection for your North Texas home.

Seeing ants in your kitchen? You're not alone.

During the summer, it's common for ants to find their way indoors looking for food and water. Even a few crumbs on the counter, a sticky drink spill, or a pet's food bowl can attract a trail of ants.

The good news is that a few simple habits—like wiping up spills, storing food in sealed containers, and keeping countertops clean—can help reduce what attracts them.

If ants keep coming back, there may be a colony nearby that's sending more worker ants into your home. That's when professional ant control can make a lasting difference.

Don't be surprised if you start seeing more ants outside after recent rain.

Our technicians are expecting increased activity from odorous house ants over the next few days as colonies respond to the moisture.

You may notice large numbers of ants on:

✔️ Mailboxes
✔️ Outdoor furniture
✔️ The sides of your home
✔️ Patios and driveways

This is a common sight in North Texas after periods of rain. Moisture can disturb outdoor colonies and encourage worker ants to search for new food sources and rebuild their trails.

The good news? Seeing ants outside doesn't necessarily mean they're invading your home—but it's a good time to keep an eye on any activity around your foundation, doors, and windows.

If the ants start making their way indoors or you notice recurring activity, we'd be happy to take a look.

Have questions about the ants you're seeing? Reach out and send us a message—we're always happy to help!

One of the biggest compliments we can receive is hearing that a customer felt informed—not pressured.

Natalia from Hurst recently called us after speaking with several companies about concerns around her chimney. Here's what she had to say:

"We got the scare tactic approach with other companies, but Myles Pest Services came out and was honest and didn't try to gouge us."

Since 1989, we've believed pest control should start with honest answers and practical recommendations—not fear.

Thank you, Natalia, for trusting our team and for taking the time to share your experience.
