***VICTORY WAS ADOPTED!***
Update: We are incredibly humbled and full of joy by the response from our community. Since we posted, we’ve had 94 animals leave the building with another 46 waiting to go home after their stray hold and/or spay/neuter surgeries. Everyday animals come through our doors and every day so do wonderful people to save a life. This critical influx was no exception. How can you still help? Our cat space is still in a concerning state, so please spread the word that we need adopters, fosters and rescue partners to help us with our kitties. We also continue to take animals every hour, so new dogs and cats will be looking for homes as early as tomorrow. Adoption fees are still waived through Sunday for all shelter animals!
**OUT OF SPACE** When you picture adopting a dog, you might not picture adopting a dog like Victory: he’s sick with an upper respiratory infection, missing patches of fur, has a mismatched baby ear and is shy in his kennel. But he’s a dog that really needs someone in this critical moment.
As you may have seen, BARCS is out space—and we need your help to save the lives of the animals in our shelter… Animals like Victory, who may be passed over because he doesn’t “look” like a dog someone wants to adopt.
At only 3-years-old, Victory has his whole life ahead of him. He was found as a stray wandering around the city, searching for food and shelter. We’re happy to say he’s found food, shelter, medical care and love at BARCS. But he’s looking for—and deserves—so much more: a warm bed and lots of blankets to bury himself under; a variety of treats for being a good boy or just “because”; and a special person or family who will love him unconditionally for the rest of his life.
Could that person be you?
Adoption fees are waived at our 301 Stockholm Street shelter now through Sunday (10/13). We encourage adopters to come sooner than the weekend if they are able. More animals will arrive at our facility each day and we currently do not have space to shelter more sick dogs like Victory.
If you cannot adopt right now, please share this post in hopes that it will reach someone who can. These animals deserve a good outcome, but we can't do it without our community’s help… YOUR help.
