My name is Chastity, and I'm the owner and operator of a home-based local laundry pickup and delivery service here in Longview- A Lighter Load. I started this business because I know how overwhelming everyday chores can feel when you're juggling work, family, and everything else life throws at you.

My goal is simple: to help and support people by taking laundry off their plate.

I pick up your laundry, wash, dry, fold it neatly, and return it fresh and ready to put away. Whether you're a busy parent, a working professional, or just someone who could use a little extra help, I'm here for you.

I truly love being able to support my neighbors in a small way that makes a big difference in their week.

You’ve probably seen my posts about laundry service pricing—$30 per 13-gallon bag or $2/lb—but what does that actually look like? 👀

Let me show you!

A standard 13-gallon bag typically holds about 14–17 lbs of laundry (depending on the items and how it’s packed). Everything you see here fit into ONE bag—and honestly, there was still room for a couple more pieces and it would’ve still closed up just fine.

Let’s talk about something no one asks… but everyone wonders 👀
Are those machines actually clean?

It’s a fair question—and it matters more than people think.

Washing machines can hold onto detergent buildup, lint, body oils, and bacteria if they aren’t cleaned regularly. Over time, that can affect how your clothes look, feel, and smell.

What’s recommended for everyday home use:
• Run a cleaning cycle about once a month
• Wipe seals and leave the door open to prevent moisture buildup
• Use the right amount of detergent (too much = buildup fast)
• Clean more often for heavy soils, pet items, or large households

What I do for my machines:
• Wipe-downs between every client — seals, lids, and detergent compartments are cleaned and checked before the next load
• Machines are reset between detergent types using a rinse cycle and full wipe-down
• Fresh-start cycles as needed after heavier or high-lint loads
• End-of-day refresh — hot cycle + air out after a full day of use
• Scheduled deep cleaning based on machine use to prevent buildup and keep everything running like new
• Extra attention to high-contact areas across all loads

What your laundry is washed in matters just as much as how it’s washed. I make sure both are taken care of.

☘️A little St. Patrick’s Day story 🍀

When my husband and I were dating, he was working out of town and I decided to overnight him some homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Because it was St. Patrick’s Day, the store only had green and shamrock napkins and packaging, so I wrapped everything in that theme without really thinking much of it.

They were delivered to him on St. Patrick’s Day, and somehow that accidental timing turned into a tradition.

Every year since then, I make him homemade chocolate chip cookies on St. Patrick’s Day.

Funny how the smallest things end up meaning the most 💚

Detective’s Log

Another sock has vanished under most suspicious circumstances.

The initial suspect: The Dryer
Long rumored to possess an appetite for lone hosiery.

Yet upon further investigation, a most unexpected culprit emerges…

The Washer.

Socks may slip betwixt the washer drum and the outer tub, vanishing into what can only be described as the laundry abyss.

Investigation Findings

In a top-load washer, the rogue article may be drawn beneath the agitator or spun into the machine cabinet.

In a front-load washer, the missing evidence may be discovered lurking behind the bottom access panel.

Prevention of Future Laundry Conundrums

Place socks within a mesh laundry bag.

Recommended Procedure:
Bag → Washer → Dryer

The pair remains united.
