20 years ago I had my first business cards made!
I was 2 months from my 21st birthday, attending business classes at Henry Ford community College, bartending at Snookers and wondering....what was next.
Then I had a conversation with a customer at the bar, She told me how two guys powerwashed her house for $400....that was almost how much i made that week. I spent the next few months talking about how I was going to start a business until I finally made the move.
I headed downtown and filed for an LLC FOR NICKS PERFECT POWERWASHING....Now what?.... I made up fliers and put them in mailboxes everywhere....thats when I got a call from the postmaster General and learned... that is illegal....Oops. lol
I made up business cards and started handing them out at work until I finally got my first call...
Not only was it my first call, but it was a commercial job with a weekly contract.
After a few minute conversation he asked "when can you get started?" I think to myself, self you're a reliable professional business owner "i will be there tomorrow at 6am" perfect he says
Only problem, not only do I not own a powerwasher, but ive never even used one...
I had 16 hours, so I went to home depot bought what I thought I would need and headed home. I filled the oil in the living room of my apartment and read the instructions.
At 5am monday I loaded up my truck and headed to the job...how did it go? Not great...lol but I held onto that contract for the next 15 years.
