A LITTLE INSIGHT INTO THE BUSINESS BEHIND THE CLEANING…..🥰
I want to share a little perspective. Not to complain, not to offend anyone, but to help people understand what goes into running a professional cleaning business.
When you hire a cleaning service, you're paying for more than the time someone spends inside your home. You're paying for their experience, attention to detail, reliability, supplies, equipment, insurance, fuel, travel time, and all the behind-the-scenes work that happens before and after that cleaning ever takes place.
There are consultations, phone calls, text messages, scheduling, answering questions, explaining services, preparing quotes, creating policies, client summaries, planning routes, purchasing supplies, maintaining equipment, and countless little business expenses that people don't necessarily see.
And sometimes, a significant amount of time goes into helping a potential client understand their options and preparing a quote, only for the conversation to just go silent.
Time we'll never get back.
I completely understand that not every quote will fit every budget, and that's okay! ❤️ But there's still time, effort, and work involved LONG before a cleaning appointment is ever booked.
Recently, I made the difficult decision to raise my rates. It wasn't something I did lightly, and it certainly wasn't just because I wanted to charge more.
The cost of running a business continues to rise, just like the cost of living. Supplies cost more. Gas costs more. Insurance and operating expenses add up. Yet somehow, there's often an expectation that service prices should stay the same year after year after year.
Think about it this way: keeping business rates frozen while expenses continue to climb is a little like expecting wages to stay the same while the cost of everything else keeps going up. Eventually, something has to give.
And I don't want that something to be the quality of my work, the care I put into every home, or even my ability to continue serving the families who trust me with their spaces.
I'm a small, mom-owned and operated business. It's just ME. There isn't a big company behind me absorbing the expenses. It's me, doing the work, managing the business, investing in my supplies and equipment, and working hard to build something sustainable. This isn't some side hustle.
This is my (as well as so many others) main source of income.
A business cannot survive on simply covering its expenses, and it cannot grow if there's nothing left after the bills are paid. PROFIT ISN'T GREED. It's what allows a business to maintain its standards, invest in itself, provide for its family, and keep its doors open!
I know my services may not fit every budget, and I respect that! There are different options out there, and everyone has to make the choices that work best for them.
But I also have to make the choices that allow me to continue doing what I love and providing the level of service my clients deserve.🤍
So, if you've received a new quote or noticed an adjustment in my rates, please know that those decisions are made with careful consideration. My goal has always been to provide dependable, detailed, professional cleaning with a personal touch.
To all of my wonderful clients who value my work, respect my time, and continue to support my small business — thank you. You are appreciated more than you know! 🥹❤️
Sometimes, supporting a small business means understanding that the person behind it has expenses, responsibilities, and a family to support, too.
Thank you for allowing me to do what I do, for trusting me in your homes, and for helping keep this little business going.
I never take any of it for granted!❤️
Signed,
A Mom & business owner
