Having the right tools for any job makes a huge difference. Of course this goes for cleaning tools as well. When it comes to sweeping the house to garage, which broom is best?

Indoors or non porous surfaces, choose one with finer bristles to pick up smaller dirt particles.

For outdoors or porous surfaces, go for stronger, stiffer bristles.

It happens to use all, at one time or another.... broken glass! The question is how to we pick up all those tiny painful slivers!?

Here are several simple and effective tricks of the trade.

1. If you have playdough on hand press it into the broken remnants of the shattered glass and walla - they're stuck!

2. No Playdough, No problem simply use a piece of soft bread and wipe the area clean. The glass finds the bread much more appealing than you floor or counter.

3. A sliced potato. Just take a potato and cut it in half. Press is over the shards and they hold on to the starchy water.

Happy 2016!

What better way to start the year off than a day at the spa... Or at least a moment that feels like we did. Just imagine a warm towel fresh from the dryer! Superb!!

Here is a tip to keep your towels and clothes smelling clean and fresh - even removing mildew scents...

Wash your load of towels on the hot cycle and add 1 cup of vinegar to the load.

Do not use detergent or anything just hot water and the vinegar.

If for some reason they still smell a little bit, just rewash in hot water this time using only 1/2 cup of baking soda.

When your towels are done, throw them in the dryer with a dryer sheet and you're all done!

They always come out smelling great and fresh! It’s so easy and just requires one ingredient, vinegar

Let's start the New Year shining!

For grease spots on your kitchen hood, appliances, and fixtures put a couple drops of mineral oil on a paper towel. Wipe the paper towel over the dirty surface, and watch the gunk come right off!

Nice and clean.
When you are done cleaning, simply wipe down the surfaces one more time with a new dry paper towel. This leaves the surface coated lightly in oil, which makes future oil splatters much, much easier to clean up too.

You can use mineral oil, which is a neutral oil typically used to treat wood products like cutting boards and salad bowls. Vegetable oil works just as well.

With the Holidays in full swing I thought it might be a good idea to share a way to keep the clean up as easy as possible... For stubborn staining on your pots, pans, and cooking utensils try using about 1/4 cup of baking soda in a small glass bowl and just enough in hydrogen peroxide to make a medium paste. Rub it on the grease stains, let it sit for about an hour (or you can use it as a scrub), and wipe it off... its as simple as that!
