Clark County is considering creating a mosquito abatement district to tackle the rising mosquito problem in the Las Vegas Valley — especially invasive Aedes aegypti and West Nile virus-carrying mosquitoes.

Commissioner Tick Segerblom proposed the district, which would locate and treat mosquito breeding areas to reduce populations. The Southern Nevada Health District currently conducts surveillance but does not control mosquitoes.

Yes, my job is to rid your living space of pests. But when I find a baby bird, with no nest close by, how can I not take it to a safe place? I’ve taken other birds to this vet because they will help place and rescue birds.

People often ask me what the most common pest I deal with. My response is after 16 years in the industry my experience is the weather and life cycle of pest is what I will be dealing with. Some years I’ve had calls for ant’s no stop other years Scorpions, and last year lots of flies and mosquitoes calls. When I treat customers home I focus on the weather in the following month. I always try to be proactive then reactive.
